Band working on GRAVITAS for a Spring 2014 release.
Not much of a press release, it was only that line. They call it the "Original" Asia but Steve Howe is out. Doesn't really matter I guess, as long as it sounds good.

The last album was good, though I have to admit after playing it about 5 times during the month it came out I haven't felt the urge to revisit it since. Howe had already indicated that he was done with Asia so I expected that but I'm a little perturbed at them saying "Original Asia" without Steve being involved.

One can hope the guitar slot is taken by Mandy, he is kinda/sorta "original"

Nope. Young Gun named Sam Coulson. Never heard of him he looks like a young guy. I guess with Krokus done maybe Mandy would be available who knows.

According to John Wetton one of the original choices for the guitar slot wasn't available but they recommended Coulson instead and the band agreed after rehearsing with him.
Looks like the album title was changed at some point from Valkyrie to Gravitas.

Asia! haven't even thought of these guys since the 80's. Didn't know they were still around. A quick search revealed several albums outside the first two I knew about. Going to Spotify them to hear what they have been up to.
