Ace's album is full of catchy, raw, rock and roll tracks. It was also the only solo album to generate a hit single, though that in itself doesn't really mean much.
That was a cover song, though. I don't dislike Ace's album, I just think it is overrated and it is the one I listen to the least of the 1978 solo albums. My favorite song off it is "I'm in Need of Love."
Anything by ACE is overrated IMO.. Paul's wins alone just bcuz of his vocals..
Always wondered why this song wasn't a hit...
My dad used to have this record and I remember this song very well along with the great Tonight You Belong to Me...

"Tonight You Belong to Me," "Take Me Away (Together as One)," and "Goodbye" blow me away. Awesome stuff! There's nothing on that level on Ace's album.

Except for Rip It Out, Fractured Mirror, Snowblind and Wiped-Out!
I love Paul's album but Ace's is pure raw rock and roll! Yes, Paul is technically a better singer, but Ace has that "can't sing, don't care" rock 'n' roll attitude about his voice that made many, many other rock and roll singers great. Rock and Roll was never about who is best, it's about attitude, charisma and charm and Ace has a ton of all of that. His guitar work on this album was outstanding as well. I do understand that you just don't like Ace's style, but I'm just trying to make my case. :-)

Ace is an animal but he played a very mediocre style that was being played by countless and far better musicians. He was just in KISS, therefore he is very well known as they are a HUGE iconic rock n roll band.
Paul to me is just a better musician. Better ear for melody, better voice, and a good guitar player as well. Rock is def not about who is best as that's a matter of opinion...
I remember hearing his duet with Sarah Brightman and I thought man the dude can still sing... That song IDK when it was released 2010ish?

No disrespect to Paul at all. I agree that Paul is incredible. I love Paul too.
However, I disagree with you on Ace. Ace has a charisma that is all his own. Others may be able to play better, but you hear an Ace song or an Ace riff or even one of his solos and you immediately know it's him. As well, Fractured Mirror is hardly a mediocre guitar song. It's pretty complicated musically.
This is a fun song...
It's a simple, fun guitar instrumental and it's immediately recognizable as Ace. It's not complicated, but it doesn't have to be. Ace rules.

Ace can def play, he's very good. I just feel Paul is the better all around musician when it comes to writing, singing, and playing... They compliment each other well...
You also have a wider range of KISS music than I could ever hear haha.. You would def know more about them both than me..

Paul kept Kiss alive in the 80's for sure.

Paul's isn't terrible. Sounds like a very mediocre KISS album.
It is well documented that Gene's is garbage. Peter's too, but it is also well documented that he was not intending to impress KISS fans to begin with.
Ace's is just a killer rnr record. One of my favorite, if not my favorite, KISS related album, and a favorite rnr album in general.

Yes it does. I did not notice that at first. Maybe some spaces or just typing out the entire thing would've been better. Ha.

Ace > Paul. then usually i would say Gene's was third best, but for awhile Peter's and Gene's is a tie.
Paul's LP is the polished kind of hard rock that actually should have conquered FM radio and stayed forever on it, never understood why it didn't when weaker sounding bands did and still do.
I always liked better Ace's gritty, Keith Richards-type rock n' roll attitude which showed in many of his songs.

Ace, because he's Ace.
I heard Paul and offered him help and he told them no. Then his record destroyed the others. Paul's had some good tracks, but there isn't a bad song on Ace's and he played everything but the drums.

I love all four. Gene’s had some strange things - but come on Cher/Joe Perry/Rick Nielsen/ Bob Seger others... " Tunnel of Love " " Burning Up with Fever "
Ace’s portrait painting was the coolest. Talk about true to himself through songs. Very drug oriented. " Ozone " " Wiped Out " " Snowblind "
Paul was just being Paul - but more intimate than KISS songs allowed - and telling. Bob Kulick guitar / Carmine Appice - song titles have " Me " six times - lol 1. "Tonight You Belong to Me" 4:41 4. "Wouldn't You Like to Know Me" 3:16 5. "Take Me Away " 5:26 7. "Hold Me, Touch Me (Think of ME When We're Apart)" 3:40
My favorite is Peter’s release. Great musicianship and singing. Most honest too. His beloved style.

Ace, by a wide margin. Then Paul, Gene, and (shudder) Peter. That album is so bad I refuse to buy it to complete the discography. I have stood in a store with that disc in hand, and like Snoopy, said, "nope not today" and put it back in the bin.
