"After 12 years and 7 albums we are ready to release our 8th album. 'Killhammer' will be a metal masterpiece with a wall of sound, loud guitars straight in your face and without compromises!" - R.D. Liapakis
The album will be available as jewel case, limited edition A5 digipak with a bonus live DVD as well as limited vinyl LP in gatefold cover. "Killhammer" will be unleashed on September 27, 2013 via Massacre Records!

Since their last album, I've become a fan and own all their albums. Looking forward to picking this one up. I love the Mystic Prophecy brand of aggressive power metal. Impressive guitar work, but ultra heavy and infectious.

Great band and I think they improve upon each release. I love the days of Gus G, and the melodicness of those albums but they have def improved with the dual guitars and great vocals. These guys are prolly the HEAVIEST Power Metal band along with Steel Attack..

I bought Regressus when it came out as a blind buy, based on those little "for the fans of..." stickers.
At first, I was disappointed, because I was expecting something more Hammerfall. But it really grew on me and I loved the hell out of it. I fell off and never really gave any subsequent albums a proper listen. I might check this one out too.
Similar story with Steel Attack. Except they sounded exactly as I imagined. I bought "Where Mankind Fails", and played the hell out of it. I think I did buy one other album, but I never really gave much else as much a chance as Mankind. I played the hell out of that one, for sure.

Regressus was the best album they did with Gus G. The song "Mystic Prophecy" is one of my favourites. But they might have gotten even more awesome since Gus G left. Especially Savage Souls and Fireangel are both incredible.

Nice. Been getting into these cats in the last few years. I only have five albums, but I really dig them.

Regressus was sort of a blind buy for me as well. Mystic Prophecy was a band I had heard of but never actually heard. Iwas at FYE and had Regressus and one other cd (can't remember what) picked out to choose to buy and couldn't make up my mind on which to go for. I asked my son to pick one for me and he chose it. I like it well enough but haven't picked up anything else by them. There are just so many bands out there that I'd like to get more of but there's just not enough money to go around. Mystic Prophecy is on my "One of these days" list.

Congrats right back at ya! Awesome!
My wife likes metal. Just not speed/power/thrash. More into doom/gothic, you know... really.... slooooow... booooring.... stuff. We both love the classic metal bands though. So it's pretty good. Took her to Priest and Maiden and Iced Earth and all that.
EDIT: she doesn't like Mystic Prophecy at all, so this album has to be my personal guilty pleasure. Good thing I have good headphones. But make no mistake about it, I WILL blast it out loud whether it's in the car or at home whenever she's not within hearing distance.

Two days to go until it's released. I have preordered the digibook with the bonus DVD.
No baby yet either. Let's see which one comes first!

Well, it's out today, but I don't have it yet.
But there's some samples and a music video linked on Blabbermouth: http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/mystic-prophecy-killhammer-video-released/
"Killhammer" track listing:
Spoiler:
01. Killhammer (4:16) 02. Armies Of Hell (4:24) 03. To Hell And Back (4:24) 04. Kill The Beast (3:24) 05. Hate Black (4:54) 06. Children Of The Damned (4:41) 07. 300 In Blood (4:22) 08. Angels Of Fire (4:07) 09. Warriors Of The Northern Seas (4:21) 10. Set The World On Fire (3:47) 11. Crazy Train (OZZY OSBOURNE cover) (5:19)
Comments Liapakis: "We are truly satisfied with our new album.
"I'm pretty confident that we have taken MYSTIC PROPHECY to the next level, and I believe our fans will be satisfied with the result too.
"We already have great reviews coming in, and a very warm response from the people who have already listened to it.
"We strongly believe that 'Killhammer' is heading for the German charts.
"As in our previous albums, we had some nice surprises to present; the same goes for 'Killhammer'. We have a couple of aces up our sleeves, certain elements which, when you listen to it, you will understand the path we are walking into."

The CD was finally waiting for me in the mailbox when I returned home yesterday. After three listens it's hard to analyze too much yet, but I can tell the bonus DVD is nothing to get excited about. Sound is good yet very raw, but the concert is spoiled by having incomprehensible holiday video footage in between songs. If I wanted to see alligators, I'd watch Animal Planet. Also, most of it is in German and they didn't even bother with subtitles. So I'll just assume they are talking about penises and anuses. At least that way it's funny.
There's a couple of standout tracks so far. Or let's say early favourites. Hate Black has a cool riff. Overall the sound continues in the Ravenlord type of heavier mid-tempo thrash approach to power metal. At times they sound like Overkill (think Killbox 13). Warriors of the Northern Seas is a nice song (despite the lyrics, again.... "loaded cannons ready". Really? Vikings with cannons?). Oh well.
I know you're not supposed to read Mystic Prophecy lyrics, but a perfect example of their punchy, satanic and unintentionally funny lyrics is Children of the Damned. Every line would make a good t-shirt slogan: "Dark Angels calling my name - with hate take my dreams in a dark room full of nightmares - can you hear my silent scream - shadows with demon eyes - hellfire made of sins". Sounds cool, but makes absolutely no sense. Add in the broken English and google translator or whatever they used for the booklet, and it's getting closer to camp than serious metal lyrics. Not that "serious metal lyrics" in itself wasn't always a little camp to begin with.
To his credit, Liapakis has good pronunciation and diction. And super powerful lungs. And it all does sound very cool... HELLFIRE MADE OF SINS! He could sing the phone book and it'd be awesome and believable. Again, his talents are wasted on the Ozzy cover, as was the case with the last album.
I don't know how I'd rate the album yet. It comes in a digibook, which I thought meant something like an A5 sized digipak, but it's actually like a DVD case -sized package, similar to what Judas Priest's Nostradamus was sold in.
And oh yeah, my baby boy, or Senor Poopy Pants as I like to call him, finally popped out into the world this Saturday. I haven't tried how he reacts to Mystic Prophecy. Yet.

New official video for the song To Hell and Back. Check it out:
I don't know what's with the women. I don't mind watching them while listening to the music (o)(o), but it's all a bit off. I like the song though. It's probably as close as you get to a ballad when it comes to Mystic Prophecy.
