New Post Editor for the Forum

I posted this on the Shock Totem forum, but since HoM uses the same forum software I thought you guys might like it posted here.

(I'm posting it here because this forum gets the most traffic.)

In the past week or so the makers of this forum software have introduced a new post editor. I was on vacation so many of you have probably already noticed this.

Below is information on this change. Most important for you, I think, is the WYSIWYG feature. When it's on, it can cause issues with the look of your post, specifically when copying/pasting. With it off, you'll see the forum code (ex:[ quote]), which I think is preferable. Your choice, though. =)

We have chosen a simple and complete messages editor that allows you to have a direct view of items to put on your forum pages (images, text, colors ...)

This editor is composed of two modes:

• WYSIWYG mode,
  Which displays the elements as they should appear on-line on your forum.
  
• Source code mode,
  Which displays all the corresponding BBCode tags.
  
  

You can switch between thoses two modes via this button:

Here is a detailed list of the new Editor Features:

Note:

1. With the integration of the new editor, two options become obsolete in your admin panel and therefore were deleted:

• Enable extended message editor
  
• Enable WYSIWYG by default in messages
  
  

2. This new editor is still in beta. Therefore, there may still be some bugs. These will be corrected by gathering feedback from the community. (It should be noted that the change will not be in your admin panel.)

The WYSIWYG button, when it's on, can't be a pain in the ass.

Yea, thanks. I hated the way quoting worked. This seems much better now with that icon dohickey clicked on. Thanks, Mr. Sore.

Black font on a black background rocks! Haha. It is a great feature if you're copying and pasting an image from somewhere, though, because all you have to do is right-click, select Copy Image, and then paste it here. It's a little quicker than doing the tags.

Other than that, though, it's more hassle than not.

Agreed, I switched right away when it was introduced. Can't go wrong with the old school.

I do like the new spell check feature though.   But yeah, the quoting thing was a pain in the ass.

Thanks for the information.  I recently had to reformat my hard drive and thought I was missing a required software update or something.
