You want a great Black Sabbath live album? Search for "Asbury Park, 1975", it's a bootleg soundboard recording from the Sabotage tour. 3 songs made it onto the "Past Lives" release but they should have just reissued the full concert.

NOOOOOO!! No, don't make me choose. Love 'em all Hurts my head even to try to pick one over the other. Kinda like asking, "Which child do you love the most?"

I'm a little surprised by how few votes the debut album has, especially considering that historically it's one of the most important albums in metal/hard rock history.

The debut is the most important album in metal history. It was also my first Sabbath album I ever purchased, and the first album I ever heard because my uncle owned it (granted, I think the first song I ever heard was Iron Man on the radio). That said, I spun that sucker countless times and the whole thing is burned in my mind. Same with Paranoid. The goal here is to chose not the greatest Sabbath album, but one's personal favorite to spin, which these days for me wouldn't be the first two records.

I'm sure if the poll question was worded differently, the debut would have scored way higher. It just asked for a favorite though.

Well the debut is getting a late surge. While Paranoid and Iron Man were the first Sabbath songs I heard, the debut was the first album I owned. I remember the chills running down my spine the first time I heard the title track, and I would have absolutely know idea what I was in store for. I could have easily chosen the other 5 depending on the day or mood.

I've always said that they were a better band musically with Ozzy but for some reason I just like Dio Sabbath better.
