i quite enjoy jazz now. I am excited to listen to these tonight. Oliver Nelson's tenor solo on the track "Stolen Moments" is one of my all-time favorite jazz solos, just amazing tone. |

| From gohastings - Spoiler:
[/img
] The Tad and Scream discs must've been pricing errors since both were just a few bucks. I've been noticing this lately with gohastings that they'll suddenly have a price well below the market rate. Usually on amazon they'll move down to undercut the others, but these were just straight-up stand alone cheap. And since both were top ten want listers I'll gladly take'em. Love you gohastings. Also that Zeke is all kinds of great (way too short though)." />

| I'm not big into the Melvins, but I love the KISS aped covers.
Surely other bands have had to of done that as well? It occurred to me when I saw your post that I can't recall ever seeing anyone do a riff on the solos covers.

I have one of their albums ( Til The Living End) that I got free in a box of promo stuff from work. I saw these guys live once, opening for Motorhead and I thought they were terrible. Just an awful, sloppy, noisey mess. So I've never bothered to break the seal and was figuring on ditching it. Are they a little more listenable on a studio recording? _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

They also used to sell Melvins Army shirts with the Kiss design. Those things go for crazy prices these days. A few years back the Melvins were selling their old tour van on ebay and one of the selling points was Kurt Cobain had drawn the Kiss portraits onto the headboard. - Quote :

Are they a little more listenable on a studio recording? Honestly no. My questionable tastes loves stuff like this - but noisy and sloppy are an apt description. Also there is a high degree of samey-ness to them. Again, I can dig stuff like this but will admit it has limited appeal.

I don't know what that is. I just heard Haken for the FIRST TIME YESTERDAY, so c00l. Gonna go start a thread on them now. Sorry, inside joke. There's a recent thread available for reference. Anyway, they're a unique brand of prog metal, and a hell of a lot more prog than what DT's been doing. I am very happy about the rest. Those original album series are a steal considering they're the older, higher DR pressings, although they come in crappy sleeves w/no artwork. Doesn't matter when it's five Pantera albums for 16 bucks.

| I have two of those original album series - The Cars and Eddie Money. The irritating thing is that there are others where I have a few of the albums so getting the whole package just isn't worth it. Warren Zevon set I'm looking at you. But it is a nice idea (and price), only wish they started these much earlier. I also wish they included the albums with their bonus cuts on the ones reissued. | |
