I haven't thought of this band in ages. I have the S/T but can't remember anything about it. I think I bought it based on a record store employee's recommendation at an "Our Employees Recommend" listening post (man, I miss those days!). I remember being struck by the name because I wondered how many members of their target audience even know what "Datsun" was.

I've come across a number of their albums in used bins over the years, and I never could remember to check them out online after. They looked like they could either play that modern garage rock style or alternative/indie rock. the latter of which has much less appeal to me.
Well, I finally remember to check them out the other day, and I really dug what I heard. The fit in nicely with bands like The Hives and The Hellacopters, that garage rock style. Call me a fan.
Surely nothing mind-blowing, but for a few bucks an album you really can't go wrong.

That explains why I don't remember them. I went through a phase in the early 00's where I liked a lot of stuff like The Vines, The Hellacopters, The Hives, etc.
Of all the CDs I bought during that period only The Hellacopters still get spun. As usual when I go through "a phase", I guess I just burned myself out on the garage genre. Same thing happened with female-fronted metal, power metal, symphonic metal, etc, etc. Even glam is starting to bore me now. The only style I return to over and over is AC/DC-sounding bands.

I burn myself out on styles all the time. I have never doused the flame completely, though; I always come back around at some point.

Did Locky sell the Prowler Ep's as well, or are they directly from the band?

I haven't heard that particular Diamond Rexx album, but I bought Land of the Damned a few years ago from the used bin. One of the most disappointing CDs I've ever picked up. Based on the band pic on the back, I was expecting something like W.A.S.P.
What I got wasn't, all things considered, that bad, I guess....but the level of mediocrity compared to the expected awesomeness...I didn't even feel inclined to keep it.

Yeah alot of those "late to the game" bands were perhaps good musicians, but poor songwriters. Sometimes they have a few good tunes and throw crap together just to get that album out and hope it hits with the market. I am going back and getting stuff by bands I saw here n there back in the day. If/when I find them for cheap. Diamond Rexx was typical of the era onstage and I am not expecting anything different from their studio output.

This is the first album I've heard by these guys, and it's fantastic. Hope to pick up their other two sometime soon.

Yeah, I bought it. I found it used and got it since, sadly, I am a 'Ryche fanboy. I even found something decent about DTC. Since I had very low expectations, this isn't half bad so far.

I admit if I found it used, at a good price I would pick it up, I own his first solo album and exactly enjoyed it.

I'll buy it someday, too. I haven't seen a single used copy, though, which usually tells me that something is awesome and no one is selling it, or it didn't sell worth a damn. I'm thinking the latter is true here. Haha.
