Ever wonder what would happen if you chucked John Carpenter's version of The Thing into a blender with Miracle on 34th Street? This would be the result. This little beauty comes from Finland (script is part English / part Finnish) and uses ancient Finnish folklore that shows Santa not as the jolly guy that gives kids presents, but as an inhuman monster that REALLY punishes the naughty children. Part horror, part black comedy, part action/thriller. Very imaginative movie!!
That movie had such potential but the fact that "Santa" never thaws out or terrorizes anyone pissed me off. I actually like the 2 shorts the movie was based on better.
I do have to agree with you there. It could have easily been at least 20-30 minutes longer, with Santa making a REAL appearance. I think the director could have played with the folklore material a bit more as well.
At face value, though, I did enjoy the movie a fair bit.

Did you watch the shorts? They're hilarious!

War Of The Gargantuas - hadn't seen this giant monster movie from Toho since I was a kid, still very enjoyable if you like those Japanese kaiju flicks
then
The Little Girl Who Lives Down The Lane - an okay psychological thriller from 1976 starring a very young Jodie Foster

Love "War of the Gargantuas" but I've only ever seen the US version. As usual, there are significant differences between the original Japanese version and the US version, just like the original Gojira when compared to the US Godzilla.

Yeah. I do know that this movie was a sequel to the earlier Frankenstein Conquers The World and that the monsters had names (Sanda and Gaila if I remenber correctly). The american version pretty much glosses over those little tidbits;the monsters are just called the Green Gargantua and the Brown Gargantua and I heard no mention of the earlier movie.

Just watched Transformers:Revenge Of The Fallen for the first time. Not as good as Transformers, still entertaining and not a bad way to waste a few hours on a cold @$$ snowy day. The part with the hot Betty (transformer) having the tail come from her butt was hilarious.

The begining of a lifelong thing for Jodie. She is still hot in a nerdy librarian kind of way.

I watched the Family Guy episode Leggo My Meg-O today. It's a parody of the movie Taken, with Meg being the abductee and Brian and Stewie trying to save Meg. Great episode!

I watched another Family Guy episode, A Very Special Family Guy Freakin' Christmas.
Another great episode!
Peter Griffin: [as a salesman unplugs a display TV, showing Peter's favorite holiday movie, KISS Saves Santa] "Hey! I was watching that. Hey!" TV Shop Owner: "It'll be on next Christmas." Peter Griffin: "Well, who the hell knows when that's gonna be?"

"Batman Beyond: The Movie" (1998)
Cyberpunk update of the Dark Knight saga takes place in a "Blade Runner"-esque future version of Gotham City. Batman has been retired for the past 20 years, and the city is now ruled by crooked business men at the top, and street gangs at the bottom. After accidentally discovering the secret identity of the now-elderly Bruce Wayne, troubled teen Terry McGinnis adopts the Batman persona and starts kicking butt all over Gotham City in a cool high-tech bat-suit.
Interesting detour for the Batman mythos, action packed and rendered in a nifty "anime" inspired style.

Watched a few episodes Of The Adventures Of Merlin on ScyFy earlier, still on the fence about watching further episodes. Ads said the coming season will be the last.

Haven (Season 3)
The show has already been renewed for Season 4 next year, good news because it's one of the more enjoyable genre shows on TV right now.
