| Jeff's releasing an ep of country tunes. Yes, seriously. - Quote :
- On November 9th Tesla frontman Jeff Keith will be releasing an EP entitled 'Jeff Keith And Country Music Friends'. The six song country EP is now available for pre-order at jeffkeithcountry.com, with the first 500 copies being personally autographed by Keith.
Says Jeff Keith, "Once upon a time I was playing a Tesla show in Canada when Kent Goodson and Pat Boone from The George Jones band came to see us. The next thing you know us three were on a pontoon boat in Nashville fulfilling a dream I've always had writing country music songs. You can hear more about us getting together on the bonus tracks of our EP available here soon." "I've wanted to do a country project since my early days of growing up in Oklahoma and with the help of a couple of buddies of mine it's now reality," Keith continiues. "Kent played with George Jones for 28 years, and Pat still runs sound for George now for over 9 years, and I have been the lead singer for Tesla for over 25 years now. We hope that this EP will allow us to record a full length studio recorded in Nashville Tennessee! Put on your cowboy hat and chime on in. There is a lot more yet to come." 'Jeff Keith And Country Music Friends' track listing: 1. Same Ol' Cowboy 2. Life Is Just A Roller Coaster Ride 3. I Can't Let Go 4. Life On The Road 5. Oklahoma Bound 6. Oh Hell 7. CMF Interviews Sorry Jeff. No thanks. | I was hoping this would be "modern country" (aka "Southern rock) but that's pretty twangy sounding based on those clips. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

He's going old, old school country. Like 1950's-Grand Ole Opry-rhinestone suites-pedal steel guitars-country. Not my bag, but if he's having fun, more power to him. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | Yeah, I don't blame the guy for putting out an album of music he just wants to play. If you have the $$$ to do it, go for it. It's just not my thang.
Actually I bet country traditionalists who bemoan how much "rock" is in modern country would probably dig it. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| If you didn't know any better, you might think it's some kinda joke. Like he's taking the piss outta some of those old country songs. But I guess he's sincere about it. Oh well. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| That's not '50's style, it's 60's style. Straight George Jones from his Wichita Lineman days. Oh, not my thing. I'm more of an outlaw country guy. | |

Oh, not my thing. I'm more of an outlaw country guy. 50's, 60's. Whichever. It just conjures up images like this when I hear that type of country. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | No thanks - I do not like country music at all. Not a fan of any era of country music.... probably one of the reasons I'm not a big fan of southern rock either.

I can handle some country in very small doses, mostly from Johnny Cash or Junior Brown. But I've heard enough of that old school honky-tonk growing up that I don't need to hear it ever again. As well, I was never big on southern rock either. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | I hate country. DETEST IT!
The only southern rock band I can stomach is The Allman Brothers, but they had more jazz influence than country in their sound. At least on their early albums, once Duane passed away I lost interest in their sound. My least favorite ABB song is Ramblin' Man...which is funny considering it was their biggest hit. That's WAY too damn country for me.

| I like alternative country, outlaw country, and pop country so I'm not sure whether this would interest me or not. Not being modern country it could seeing as I hate any country after 1990. This is about as country as I get:
Johnny Cash Waylon Jennings The Highwaymen Willie Nelson The Lost Dogs Johnny Horton Bellamy Brothers Kenny Rogers Ronnie Milsap Mac Davis Marty Robbins Dolly Parton Charlie Daniels The Allman Brothers Alabama
Maybe a few others. If his stuff is anything like those bands, I'd give him a shot (if I had the money that is).

| I dislike country, too, but I ordered it the other day. I hadn't heard samples then, though, but even then I figured I'd toss a little cash his way as support. I was hoping it'd have more in common with southern rock than country.
His put-on country accent in the video was highly annoying, though.
