So was listening to their album International Pop Overthrow this morning. Such a great album and one I have a lot of memories tied to. One of the many bands of that era that never caught on big even with the alternative craze. Even sadder was the end of the band with the suicide of frontman Jim Ellison. I saw them live when the local alternative station had a special noon time concert. I think they were only supposed to play a few songs but the concert went over an hour and for such a weird setting (Fells Point in Baltimore outside in the middle of the day) it was a very passionate performance. I still regret getting there just after they passed out the last Material Issue shirt for the show.

I have Freak City Soundtrack (bought it for "Kim The Waitress") and Destination Universe (for "What Girls Want"). Good pop, alternative rock!
Hadn't thought of this band in ages. This song still sounds great to me:

Heard a bit of them back in college, 20 years ago. Sad what happened to the singer.
