Just joined my first Kickstarter project to fund the remastering of the first two albums by Swimming Pool Qs, the S/T and "Blue Tomorrow". After years of searching I found BT on Ebay several years ago as an Asian CD release. To my knowledge the S/T has never been released on CD. I hope they meet their goal (they're about $700 away from the 15K goal).
Just got an email that they've met their goal so these two CDs will be on their way to me soon.

Yeah, man, I've been working my way through the TP catalog lately. A few weeks ago I got Damn the Torpedoes and Hard Promises. And before that I was jaming on the first album, Wild Flowers, Full Moon Fever and Into the Great Wide Open. The rest of his albums are soon to come.
From the late 80s on, I was always aware of his stuff on the radio or MTV, and never had any problem with it. I wasn't really specifically into either. It wasn't heavy, so I didn't pay a lot of attention. Within the past couple of years, I really started to figure out just how awesome he is. Easily moving up into my top 10 slots.

He's good all over, but his best stuff is (IMO) debut through Let Me Up (I've Had Enough)...basically 1976-1987.

Man, I am having a hard time with Southern Accents. I just don't know what to make of it. Hopefully, after a few listens it will grow on me, but so far, the only tracks I really like are Rebels, Spike and the last song.
A lot of them sound like he's trying to be Springsteen. And while I love Bruce, it just doesn't work for TP.
I haven't written it off yet, though.
Long After Dark, however, I dig a lot.

Southern Accent is a pretty varied album...the songs you mentioned are very good. The album was more of a grower than others.
As for trying to be Springsteen, my problem w/ Petty post-1987 was IMO he was trying to sound like Bob Dylan...that Rock And Roll spark on his 76-87 material was gone...again, IMO. I can't say the songs were bad, the writing was good. But the whole Travelling Wilburys, Jeff Lynne era of Petty's stuff didn't appeal to me as much...even the Heartbreakers Learning To Fly stuff didn't do much for me. I have not paid attention since aside from hearing "You Don't Know How It Feels" on the radio...again, trying to be Dylan.

You know it!! I've been meaning to get them and thanks to a very prosperous run on ebay selling miscellanous junk, I was able to turn it around and start filling my discography.
I started out with the first 3 discs, but saw how surprisingly cheap most of 'em were. Aside from that last live disc, I didn't spend more that $7 bucks on any of them, some as low as $4 shipped.

Random question. Did you just win this on ebay? I just sold one on ebay, and you mentioned turning around some stuff on ebay.
If it was you that bought it, and even more random coincidence is that, I believe I just recently bought a McQueen Street CD from you.

Hahaha, that little icon cracked me up.
Poo hast never touched a single CD I have ever owned. At least not once it came into my hands. I bought WW new, so unless some disgruntled Amazon worker did anything to it and then re-shrinked it...it should be poo-fre.
