For those of you that listen to Frank Marino an Mahogany Rush, what's the best album for a new listener to his work? I heard the track "Tales of the Unexpected" and it was very cool so I would like to get some good albums. Thanks!

The first five studio and LIVE album are great listens. The one after the LIVE album. Tales of The Unexpected is debatable as the bands best

Didn't know to post here or in the other Marino thread http://www.heartofmetal.net/t2257-frank-marino-appreciation-thread?highlight=marino
The first thing I heard was about 5 years ago with his solo album called From the Hip. That was pretty cool, enjoyed that one. I'm still trying to check out his albums, and should do it chronologically, maybe will look at his discography on Wikipedia.
Listening right now to Mahogany Rush Rush IV and it feels like Jimi Hendrix if he still was alive and playing in the 1970s with a jazzy/funky Pat Travers-type or Frank Zappa-type sound.
I loved Hendrix when I first started discovering rock music, but never went looking for more players that sounded like him, like supposedly Uli Jon Roth and early Scorpions.

I tried to get in to this man and his band but I found it so derivative of Hendrix that I could barely stomach a few songs let alone an entire album. Don't get me wrong the guy is talented - but just not for me.

Listened to this CD, at 11 am, going along the highway. Erie vibe with what’s going on with the virus plaque. My first thought....I have to......buy another CD by this guy ! I do know he was around when Nugent began making waves.
