I'm not sure why some of you have an issue with us discussing this. It's relevant. We're not going out of our way to bash the guy. We're simply talking about it.

They are more mature and grown up then the rest of us I suppose.
Afterall, Shawn doesn't care for metal much anymore, prefers jazz and indie films. It makes me wonder if he sips Insania wine when visiting with his artsy friends and discussing the ambient effects on lighting in film and/or sound thru compression in recording.

I think once the court case is over and the new Queensryche album is released, then it will die down.
I am not sure what Geoff Tate is going to do, even if he records an album that is universal ear orgasm, people are going to blast it because they are no longer judging the music by its merits (lack of) but the personality that created it.
He also does not help matters by his douche bag behavior
I think most people have already been turned off by the music he has put out over the last decade or so. He may find his way to recording a great album but the reputation his recent efforts have earned him will follow him for awhile.

I don't have an issue with it, if you're having fun then that's cool, hope the thread grows to 500 pages.

Funny. Thanks for trying to simplify me down to a stereotype. I'm sure you guys see me postulating about other members personal lives all the time. Oh wait, that's right, I don't.

Don't worry you'll get a "just kidding bro" response and then all will be fine until he does it again.

Is it really stereotyping if there is a track record that goes along with it?

I'm just wondering how many more months this fascination with "The Geoff" is going to last. People sure do seem to have a hard on right now for following every little thing he says or does just so they can blast it.
Seems like a really big waste of time.
Most of what's posted here is a waste of time. It's just for amusement for the most part and theGeoff is highly amusing rignt now.

The only postulating I done was implying that you sip Insania wine. Everything else is based on stuff you have posted in various threads over the years.

For the record, I find S.D.'s posts to be informative and enlightening when broaching subjects other than metal. Very much appreciated.

OK I like Shawn, he is a cool cat and he is no more of musical snob then anyone else is in here. So what if he prefers Jazz over Metallica, good for him.
Back at the topic at hand, Geoff Tate used to be one of my favorite vocalist, even if I did not always care for the material they presented, but now adays I find myself to be judging the music more based on his behavior then the actual music itself.
Before I heard a single note of his new 'Queensryche' album I was convinced it was going to suck.

Even if he had been the nicest guy in the universe and spent all his time serving at the homeless shelter it was obvious that it was gonna suck.
I'm shocked by how many here go on and on about him and yet still buy his music.

If this thread is a waste of time, they why bother opening it, and much less commenting in it?

I think alot of folks are buying it more as either a collection filler or because they anticipate the case not going Tate's way, resulting in the album being pulled from the shelves or being reissued under Geoff Tate's name. I personally have been tempted to buy it myself for collector's purposes then for the musical contributions themselves.

I'd do that if I find a used one. I'm not paying full price for it though.

I picked up the F.U. disc for that very reason.
...well, that and the whole "passing a bad car accident on the road and you can't look away" curiosity factor.

Now I don't really mind people going out of their way to bash the guy, I've even joined in at times, but that statement is right up there with
"I did not have sex with that woman" - Bill Clinton
aaannnd!
"I am not a crook" - Richard Nixon
Maybe you should run for President?
