- Geoff Tate’s version of Queensryche are offering a free replacement of their album Frequency Unknown to anyone who’s bought it and doesn’t like the mix.
The band made moves to produce a new edit after some fans objected to the quality of preview clips ahead of the record’s release this week. They originally hired Billy Sherwood to turn his hand to producing a new version, but he bowed out citing time constraints. Tate recently said: “We were a little rushed on the mixing end of it, so we’re having some of the songs remixed before the album comes out. That’s typical with records – you have to have them in on time. Luckily, with this situation, we get to go back and correct some areas where we thought it was kind of lacking. I’ve done that on probably three quarters of the records I’ve ever made.” Record label Cleopatra say: “Simply email the label a scan of your actual receipt for the physical CD to Queensryche@cleorecs.com and they will happily send you a replacement disc, at no charge whatsoever. No questions asked!” This has now officially gone ten steps BEYOND stupid. Isn't that what Nevermore did? I believe so. I don't remember if you had to send some kind of "proof of purchase" though. I think you just had to send a request and they sent a replacement disc. I never did it. I purchased the re-mixed version later down the line at Best Buy. I fail to see how that is "stupid"

The album has only been on store shelves for three days and they're already offering replacements?? If it were due to a manufacturing defect (which was the case with the Twisted Sister recall a few years ago) that might be understandable. In this case, it simply sounds like the label has no faith at all in its product. It's like they're saying "Hey kids, we know the album sounds like sh*t, but guess what, all you have to do is buy the crappy version and jump through a couple of hoops to get the good one!" If the original mix was really that bad, then they should've delayed the release date and fixed it before the product went out to stores. But obviously Tate was dead set on sticking to the release date so he could go to court later this year waving copies of Frequency Unknown and say to the judge, "but I was FIRST your honor!" _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| HAHAHA! Thats funny.. I actually just bought it today. I went to Walmart and I just went to peak at the cds. I saw nothing and I was just about to leave and there it was sitting on a shelf not where it was suppose to be. I said ahhhh, screw it, i'll get it. I haven't listened to it yet. Now I see this. I'm gonna go and send them an email for the hell of it. I know its not going to sound any better but what the hell.
Actually Twisted Sister kinda did the same thing when they re-released Under The Blade, except that wasn't the bands fault, but the record company. _________________

I wonder how much weight this will have? Or will it be that two Qr's will be in effect, kind of like Saxon was for awhile.

- At a press conference today, Brian Perera, head of Cleopatra Records, stated that he will reportedly hand-deliver all Frequency Unknown replacement discs, accompanied by former Miss Teen Delaware Melissa King. He will shake your hand, offer to walk your dog and wash your car as well.
"Hey, it's the least we could do. We don't figure on selling more that 20 or 30 copies anyway. Man, did we ever bet on the wrong horse in this race, huh? Who would have thought Geoff would turn out to be such a dick. You know what, I'll throw in an extra 10 spot out of my own pocket for the fans, just for putting up with all this nonsense. And Melissa will go on a date with you if you want. Wink-wink." Mr. Perera was noted making air quotes at the word "date".
Mr. Perera plans to start distributing the replacement discs as soon as next week, providing their intern gets done the final remix.
The former Miss Teen contestant was stripped of her title after a pornographic tape was leaked online. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

Geoff Tate is a train wreck. it is stupid because the label and Tate went to great lengths to put the album out before the real QR and before Tate loses his claim to the name and in the process released an incomplete product. _________________

If the album is steaming pile of turd or a complete mediocrity it only hurts the name Queensryche, I don't know how this would benefit Geoff Tate by doing somethins like this? Thankfully the album will not sell and no matter how great (snicker) or terrible it is, nobody is going to buy the album, so at best it will curio for fans like us on this music board.

He got paid and it sticks it to the other guys. Geoff won the race. That's all he cares about. It's why the album is titled F*ck YOU. Call it Frequency Unknown if you want to, but Geoff is a man-child and that FU and what it means is clear as day. But worst of all, he's sticking it to the fans as well.

Because the label already paid to press the CDs and they didn't want to spend the money to redo them all with a new mix. If the album sells enough (doubtful) to go to a second pressing they will replace the disc with the remixes. The album was a complete rush job, they didn't take the time to ensure a good mix they just wanted to get it out as quickly as possible. |

Then make Geoff Tate pay for it, and speaking of Tate, he releases a solo album and barely promotes it, what kind of marketing scheme is that?
