That's why I love online music store via subscription. 10 bucks a month and I can listen to almost anything with major label distribution before buying the album. This worked with FU.
So I listened to all of FU and I am completely surprised to find that I like it, way more than I expected. The mix is really crappy, The lyrics are woefully sophmoric. The re-records are pitiful. But that's all the bad I can find. Most of the songs have tight compositions and great riffing. Melody was given better due than Tate's past efforts. Dare was a little goofy and had the band waaaaaay too low in the mix, and yeah it was the worst song on the album, but it had a decent groove. Can't believe I just wrote that. My favorite song is In the Hands of God.
I know, right?!

Aww come on dude... With a glowing review like that you'll never get the Tate to fly you to one of his shows and all the other swag he's giving to the haters. Lets see some vitriol and get you on that plane!!!

With that review, all you're gonna win are some uncensored Queensrÿche cabaret photos (of Geoff).

So it's now been a week since Frequency Unknown was released... looking forward to seeing Blabbermouth inevitably report on its "first week sales" within the next day or two. I am gonna bet that it sold somewhere in the low three figures. Anybody want to take a guess?

I've listened online and there are about three songs that are listenable. It's not terrible but like I said before, meh.

"Frequency Unknown", the new album from the Geoff Tate-fronted version of QUEENSRŸCHE, sold around 5,500 copies in its first week of release in the United States to land at position No. 82 on The Billboard 200 chart.
QUEENSRŸCHE's previous studio CD, "Dedicated To Chaos", opened with around 8,000 units back in July 2011 to enter the chart at No. 70. The band's 2009 effort, the epic concept album "American Soldier", premiered with 21,000 copies to debut at No. 25. This was roughly half the first-week tally registered by QUEENSRŸCHE's "Operation: Mindcrime II" album, which shifted 44,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release back in April 2006 to land at No. 14 on The Billboard 200 chart.
QUEENSRŸCHE's 2003 effort, "Tribe", sold 20,000 copies in the first week while 1999's "Q2K", opened with sales of 28,000.

Is there still any reason to be starting topics on Queensryche?

Damn. Must've been a lot of looky-loo's picking up the CD strictly for the WTF factor.

I have not bought a Queensryche album as a new release in ages, and I am tempted to buy it for the WTF factor

I renamed the Queensrÿche thread to separate them more clearly.

I am probably gonna pick it up sometime soon too... it's that passing-a-bad-car-wreck-on-the-highway-yet-I-cannot-look-away reaction.

Plenty of good albums out there from bands much more deserving of the support, I'd grab something else instead.

I saw this at my local Walmart on the endcap with the prime new releases. There were only two copies left. So they must've sold a bunch there. I didn't think the samples sounded as bad as I was expecting. Won't spend 10.00 on it, but used for a few buck - sure.

I think that the sales may at least in part be down to people thinking that the record would only sell a handful of copies, then theGeoff would lose the name and it would be a massive collectible.
I think that ship has already sailed with these figures though.
