| I like mostly everything except modern rap (mid-90s and beyond), modern country (anything young country and beyond), modern r&b (90s and beyond), and 80s New Wave (Thomson Twins, B52s, etc.). | |

| I've pretty much always been a rock and metal guy. Nothing else sounds cooler than a distorted guitar in my opinion.
Aside from metal in most of its forms, oldschool punk / hardcore is probably my second biggest passion. I also like classic rock, oldies, some prog, been getting into a lot of proto-metal and some psychedelic rock as well lately.
Other than that... I like a lot of gothic-rock. Some industrial. Classical chills me out. '80s New Wave is a bit of a guilty pleasure. I admire blues and jazz and enjoy watching performances and reading about the genres, despite not being much of a connoisseur admittedly. My girlfriend listens to a lot of pop / indie stuff which is not really the sort of thing I listen to on my own, but I don't mind a few artists and a couple songs.
I'll basically give anything an honest listen and I'm a believer that all genres have their greats, but metal and rock are my main choices. | |

| I'm a fan of everything. I try not to see it as genres. Just stuff I dig.
I do have funny rules when it comes to certain things. Rap/Country/Reggae I go by my '92 rule. Everything before that is cool with me. After '92 I'm a lot less inclined to give it a chance.

| It's almost easier to list what I'm not into, as I would say I'm a music fan, first and foremost. I'll appreciate music if it's well-played, almost irrespective of genre, even if I don't necessarily 'like' it. I don't enjoy most rap, commercial-country, modern r'n'b or techno/dance, but beyond that, it's a pretty open field.
My favourite genres would be metal (of course!), rock (although most of what I like would be regarded as 'classic rock' these days, mostly being from the late 60s to early 70s, such as Cream, the Band, Zeppelin, Bowie, The Beatles), folk (particularly the 'electric folk' of the same time, like Steeleye Span, Fairport Convention), prog (mostly metal to now, but am starting to search out rock!), jazz (mostly Coltrane, Davis and the classic vocalists... need to widen this one!), blues (John Mayall, Robert Johnson, BB King) along with 80s pop and bits of soul, funk, roots, country and classical. U2, Queen, Ben Harper, Dire Straits and Crowded House would be my favourite bands not already mentioned!
As always, there's never enough time in the day or money in the bank to hear all I want to hear, but suggestions are always welcome!

| I pretty much like everything, save for latin and current rap (and even then i like 80s-90s rap, and even some eminem). I guess if i had to pick a genre i listen the least to, i guess it would be pop music. I do listen to it from time tot time and even like several current artists, but a lot of my exposure to that stuff is mainly from todd in the shadows (an internet reviewer who reviews pop music). | |

| I mostly fall into the Rock/Grunge/Punk category. I really enjoy grunge, even though it's seen as the antithesis of Heavy Metal from the 80s. I grew up with Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Nirvana and all the Post-Grunge bands ruling the airwaves, and I just find it comfortable, easy listening rock when I need a change. I like some Alternative like Incubus, RHCP and stuff that isn't too far removed from the grunge era.
I've been getting into classic punk lately, like Sex Pistols, Dead Boys, UK Subs and the hardcore bands that proceeded those. I tried the Ramones and hated them though... :\
After that, I like Industrial music a lot. Stuff from the late 80s and early 90s that came to be referred to as EBM or electro-industrial like Front 242, Front Line Assembly, Skinny Puppy and KMFDM. I don't obsess over this style though because a lot of it is extremely repetitive and borders on techno. Yuck.
Also, Gothic Rock is a huge favorite of mine. The Mission UK, The Sisters of Mercy, Fields of the Nephilim and even The Cure. They all have a tremendous sense for melody and have a lot of chord progressions and leads similar to Heavy Metal, especially the Folk-esque side of Iron Maiden. I find a lot of similarities between the two. Just, Gothic Rock is softer and not quite as uplifting.
