| Select some music genres that you like. Why do you like them? What are your favorite artists of those genres? | |

| You mean... there are other genres besides metal? But seriously folks... 99.99 and 44/100 percent of my CD collection is some form of rock, metal, hard rock, or punk... other than my "Rocky Horror" soundtrack album and two discs of music from "The Simpsons." I have nothin' against most other genres, I just don't go out of my way to collect them. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Ditto. The majority of my music collection is some form of rock or metal. There's a few blues, jazz and a coupla Johhny Cash records thrown in there for good measure. But that's about as diverse as I get. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | I can't vote, that first one is too diverse for me. I'm a closed minded curmudgeon. Now I have to go check the fireants in the yard that keeps the durn kids out. | |

| My tastes have always been varied, the only time metal was the main component in my collection was from ages 12 to 24 or thereabouts. At this exact moment in time I would say metal only makes up about 20% of my listening.
I voted for Rock (Prog Rock is my main genre now), R&B/Soul, Funk, Blues, Folk, Latin, Jazz (2nd favorite genre) and Classical.

With as much as you like prog/psychedlic & space rock it's probably time to start delving into fusion and some late 60s jazz because it all developed around the same time and the genres have alot in common. |

| Definitely the first one.
Very little in the other categories appeals to me (maybe industrial if that includes bands like KMFDM and Ministry).
I'm all over the genre map but as others have said, the vast majority of my music collection is some form of rock or metal. The occasional Jon Secada disc notwithstanding. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I don't really listen to a lot of metal, mostly listen to prog rock, hardcore punk, synthpop, and jazz. But when I do listen to metal it's usually stoner/sludge. | |

| I voted for Rock, jazz, reggae, and country.
The stuff I listen to the most is either prog rock, metal, jazz, or fusion. I occasionally listen to classic country (Conway Twitty, Hank Jr., etc.) and reggae (Bob Marley).
With jazz, I usually listen to late 60's-mid70's stuff like Miles Davis' electric albums (In a Silent Way, Bitches Brew, A Tribute to Jack Johnson, etc), Herbie Hancock's Mwandishi band & Headhunters, Freddie Hubbard's Red Clay & Straight Life albums. That kind of stuff leads straight into the fusion stuff I enjoy, like Mahavishnu Orchestra, Weather Report, Lary Coryell and Eleventh House, Billy Cobham, and Tony Williams' Lifetime.
Alex, if you want to get into jazz/fusion, that would be a good place to start. | |

| I like 80s hard rock the most, I like a lot of the classic rock 60s and 70s. Basically I like "Rock N' Roll"! I like a little of the 90s "grunge" era (STP, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Creed). I also like old Country (Hank SR, Haggard, Nelson, Twitty etc. I like Alabama, Randy Travis, Alan Jackson, and Brad Paisley's music. Most of today's modern country sounds like generic pop by people IMO cannot sing very well. I just don't get people who like this stuff, it's like all that matters is the contents of the lyrics. These guys with their "John Boy and Billy" off key singing accents and pretty faces....somebody put a fork in that junk already lol | |
