Songs poking fun at music scenes/genres

I know of 3 poking fun at the 80's hollywood glam metal scene.

Redd Kross - Peach Kelli Pop
Motorcycle Boy - I Hate The Sunset Strip
Enuff Z'Nuff - Hollywood Squares

Aerosmith - Dude Looks Like A Lady... well, kind of. It's poking fun at Motley Crue, I think.

I got another one, Sheer Heart Attack by Queen it was a jab at the late 70's punk era.

Scatterbrain's "Tastes Just Like Chicken" was a jab at the cookie-cutter major label assembly line process of creating hit songs ("Straight ahead follow the path/is it music or is it math?/With formulas for going gold/The same old thing, it's getting old!")

The ironic thing is that the song appeared on their "Scamboogery" album, which was their major label debut (on Elektra)....

i always thought that song was poking fun at how steven tyler dressed like a woman. hell i once saw a picture in kerrang of him on stage and it seriously looked like he had boobs

Nah it was inspired by Vince Neil of Motley Crue, Steven says he say Vince all glammed up at the Rainbow surrounded by women and thought how could this be.

Atomic Opera-Jesus Junk which was not only poking fun at CCM but the Christian sub-culture in general. Also even though it is an intro and not really a song, Galactic Cowboys had at the beggining of Let It Go, a short song making fun of hard rock bands who jumped on the rap-rock bandwagon (I've dubbed the track, Yo MTV Craps).

I'm currently reading "The Heroine Diaries" by Nikki Sixx and he mentioned that. He says "I don't know what's funnier, that Aerosmith wrote "Dude..." about Vince, or that Dire Straits wrote "Money For Nothin' about the Crue"

Anthrax - N.F.B. pokes fun at the love ballads hair bands wrote.

There are a lot ofthrash bands that sang about their hate for posers, if that counts. One band would be Fueled By Fire, also Exodus big time. Also Imitation Of Life mentions about the hair metal scene in the song.

My sentiments exactly.

Probably the whole 3 Inches of Blood discography! They sound like traditional metal musically, but they're lyrics are wallowing in parody. I thought they were some lame metalcore band when i first heard their name, and saw pictures of the band, but they're sound is distinctly old school with the exception of the singer who growls occasionally.
