Trust me, it doesn't change. I'm now in my 50s and I still listen to the same styles of music I did 30 years ago. About the only thing that's changed is my tastes have broadened. I now enjoy bands like Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Springsteen, etc that I totally hated in my younger days.

I am in early 40's and same thing, my taste have broadened but I still listen to the same music I did as a young lad

I can still listen to *some* of the music I liked as a teenager, but many bands have been relegated to the "been there, done that, don't need to hear it again" pile. My tastes were fairly broad when I was a teen, but they've branched continually wider ever since. The more styles I discover, the less albums I need from each style. So it's a constant process of refinement for me.
