Really looking forward to that bonus CD. I have the Rockhard Sacrament EP and "The Headless Cross" and "Nightcrawler" covers, both of which are on it, are excellent. I assume they will be the same versions.
Pretty much a straight cover, but it sounds like a Powerwolf song, you know.

Anyone else pick this up? I was going to wait, but finally caved and picked up the deluxe ed at FYE.
This is probably backwards of me, but I listened to the bonus disc of covers first and have to say the whole package is worth the price of admission for it alone. It's a varied tracklist (though two Priest "Painkiller" tracks) and covers material you don't often see on "influences" covers discs.
As for the album itself, I need to give it a closer listen, but it's got a lot of vitality and doesn't overstay its welcome. Thinking it's going to fix itself as a good one in the long run.

I finally added Preachers of the Night and Blessed & Possessed to my collection (2nd hand, both came with bonus discs). Especially that covers disc looks great just based on the track list alone!
Now that I have all the studio albums, I'll rank them after a few more spins.
What do you guys think are the best Powerwolf albums?

I am interested in the blessed & possessed bonus cd. Lots of classics in there.

I'm slowly digesting the last two albums. All I can say now is that's it's all great quality stuff.
I mean, a band that in essence is just a church organ, face paint and a very basic style heavy metal ensemble SHOULD NOT BE THIS GOOD! I can't wrap my brain around it. But they have that something special. A great sense and understanding of music and melody. They know what they are doing. They have vision. Others try, Powerwolf makes it happen. And then they go totally over the top and create something awesome and memorable. I first got into the band 3 years ago, and now hearing those early albums make me feel nostalgic. Something a 37-year-old should not feel about music made in this decade.
Coleus Sanctus is a great track. Sacred & Wild, insanely catchy verse. These guys know how to make music that appeals to... well, ME... but I assume to others as well since they went #1 in Germany. It's just awesome heavy metal, with nothing that hasn't been done before (except maybe the church organ, but that's not why they are awesome). It's great. I'm a fan. I would love to see these guys live. The music seems absolutely perfect for a live show.
As an added bonus, I like the latin and Romanian lyrics, and connection (my wife was born in Romania), so stuff like Armata Strigoi appeals to her even if she usually hates the "cheese metal I listen to".

The track listing of the limited edition's bonus CD looks interesting.
01. Touch Of Evil [Judas Priest cover] 02. Conquistadores [Running Wild cover] 03. Edge Of Thorns [Savatage cover] 04. Power And Glory [Chroming Rose cover] 05. Out In The Fields [Gary Moore cover] 06. Shot In The Dark [Ozzy Osbourne cover] 07. Gods Of War Arise [Amon Amarth cover] 08. The Evil That Men Do [Iron Maiden cover] 09. Powerwolf will re-release these cover songs on an album titled Metallum Nostrum, in January 2019.
These cover songs are very well performed. I will probably buy this one .

That's cool. The original bonus disc version has been out of print for some time now.

This was posted 14 months ago, and I never did rank the albums. I'm glad this was bumped, so I can finally deliver. I'm on vacation, so I should have a bit of time to quickly run through the catalogue.

Powerwolf has a new thing entirely, a board game:

Also, a new single will be out this Saturday, a 2019 remake of Kiss of the Cobra King.

Pretty cool, but not something I'd be into. So glad I don't buy everything a band puts out. I'd be so broke! Haha.

New non-album single (a re-done version of a song off the debut album):
I think I prefer the original.

They have a 'best of' coming up next, titled Best of the Blessed:
June 5th.
Best Of The Blessed Tracklisting: 1. We Drink Your Blood (New Version 2020) 2. Army of the Night 3. Demons Are a Girl‘s Best Friend 4. Werewolves of Armenia (New Version 2020) 5. Saturday Satan (New Version 2020) 6. Amen & Attack 7. Where the Wild Wolves Have Gone 8. Resurrection by Erection (New Version 2020) 9. Sanctified with Dynamite (New Version 2020) 10. Kreuzfeuer 11. Armata Strigoi 12. Kiss of the Cobra King (New Version 2019) 13. Killers with the Cross 14. Sacred & Wild 15. In Blood We Trust (New Version 2020) 16. Let There Be Night
Not sure I'll bother picking it up as a new release, but the re-recorded versions tempt me so I might get it at some point once the price drops.

Not really relevant to anyone, I suppose, but regarding a Powerwolf compilation, I made a 54 minute Powerwolf compilation 2 years ago and it had these tracks:
1. Mr.Sinister 2. We Came to Take Your Souls 3. Kiss of the Cobra King 4. Prayer in the Dark 5. Saturday Satan 6. Werewolves of Armenia 7. We Drink Your Blood 8. Die, Die, Crucify 9. Coleus Sanctus 10. Sacred & Wild 11. Army of the Night 12. Armata Strigoi 13. Headless Cross (Black Sabbath cover)
Some overlap with the official best of, but not too much. I could (and should) add a track or two from the latest album though. Killers with the Cross / Where the Wild Wolves Have Gone, maybe?
