| Also that band "Exile" had a country/southern type sound. | |

| back in the 70's I only knew of ARS from their hits, most of which didn't sound very southern rock-ish. OK, maybe a little but they were caught up in the "hits" cycle: once you write a hit single, the record company demands it from you and if you dont deliver, your band dies. That is what happened to ARS, unfortunately. A few years ago, I reintroduced myself to their music and I have a few LP's on vinyl, and I've gotten to know their non-hits, which I think is great southern rock. A very underrated 70's band. | |

| I dig both bands, I have a few brothers who were born in the early 60s so naturally they dig 70s but where I grew up we could only find what was popular so they didn't have a deep collection of music but they had a ton of popular stuff and both these bands were in heavy rotation. 'So Into You', 'Imaginary Lover', 'Spooky', 'Kiss You All Over' and 'The Closer You Get' were all songs that were played a lot in my home. | |

| I've had their Best of forever, but I haven't listened to it in quite a long while. I always dug the song "Imaginary Lover". It's quite dark for a pop song. | |

| I have some ARS on vinyl.
Other great country/rock bands are The Flying Burrito Brothers, Poco, New Riders Of The Purple Sage, and Commander Cody & His Losy Planet Airmen. mileage may vary _________________

I have 2 sisters and a brother all born within '59-'61 so I too gew up to all the early-mid 70's popular music. They had a pretty sizeable collection but not alot of specialty records, just mainstrean rock like Bad Co., Led Zeppelin, and Aerosmith.
