| Classic Heavy Metal. Period.
Saxon, Maiden, Priest, Motorhead, Accept, pretty much all the GOOD NWOBHM bands.
And I certainly don't limit myself to the old acts either:
Hibria, Steelwing, Skull Fist, Enforcer, Ram.
It makes my existence.

| Changes with the seasons. As it gets colder, I delve more into doom. Cathedral, Black Sabbath, Pagan Altar, Candlemass, old Katatonia, etc.
By spring, it's a more balanced rotation of death, thrash and classic heavy metal. It's nothing for Dismember, Saxon and Overkill to enter the same playlist!
Metal has so many awesome styles and sub-genres it's tough to get bored.

| i listen to far more thrash than traditional heavy metal, but far more black metal (and, i suppose, death metal) than thrash metal. | |

| My preference of the two is for classic heavy metal.
That said, I've got a not-insubstantial amount of thrash in my collection, and varying amounts of quite a few other sub-genres of metal (not to mention large amounts of stuff that doesn't even come anywhere near hard rock and metal). Really, I'm more interested in whether I like how it sounds rather than what it's labelled.

| I mix it up pretty well between the 70's bands, classic 80's heavy metal and thrash, throwing in some death metal and glam metal/rock from time to time. I tend to listen to stuff like Priest, Motorhead, Maiden, Sabbath, UFO, Ted Nugent, Kiss, etc. quite a bit. I can be listening to Six Feet Under one moment then turn on some Steelheart the next. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

I dig Priest and Maiden, but despise Ac/Dc and Led Zeppelin. I'll take WASP and Dio, but leave Rush and Pink Floyd there to rot. I dunno why, but that's how it is.

| I like both, but lean toward heavy metal and more melodic versions of thrash. I listen to what I am in the mood for. Sometimes really heavy stuff, sometimes prog, 70s, or classic rock. This week so far, its Rush - Farewell to Kings, Seventhsign - Perpetual Destiny, and Rolling Stones - 40 Licks. | |

| I listen to hard rock/heavy metal most of the time, but I also listen to many many genres that arent even metal. But 99% of what I listen to is in the rock or metal catagory. These days I never limit myself, I did that years ago when all I listened to was thrash or death metal. Missed out on a lot of killer music. | |
