Also...I still don't know the exact roll of a producer on an album, but Rick Ocasek did produce one of the greatest albums of all time as well:

The role of a producer can vary widely depending on the producer and the style of music. Some are completely hands on, contributing to the writing, arranging and performance in addition to focusing on the sound of the album. Some take more of a backseat approach, only stepping in when a problem arises. Sometimes they may not do much of anything...aside from collecting their percentage.

RFL is the only Bad Brains album I currently have. The production is far better than anything they did prior.

Been a fan of The Cars since I was a kid and find something to like on every album but nothing beats the debut and Elliot Easton is one of my fave guitarists ever. Been wanting to pick up the deluxe edition and look into their solo works.

I was only a casual fan and never owned anything by them... but about five months ago I took the plunge and bought a greatest hits package with an ungodly amount of songs on it...
