| People love it...People don't love it . In the 80s everybody was sh*ting on this album and after everybody love it... What the f*ck with that album! It's a kind of Progressif-KISS-Concept album. The Question: Do you love it? |

| I dunno if I "love it" as much as I do some other KISS albums but I certainly like it. Though it took a while for it to grow on me. | |

| I call it the ''Difficult'' album 'cuz I need time to listen to it. If I stop listening to it after some time I will need to listen it again before lovin' it. |

| I love it! I remember being on vacation my senior year of high school, with my parents, and we went to a mall and my mom bought the CD for me. I listened to it on my discman repeatedly, and fell in love with it! The rock songs (I, Escape From The Island, The Oath) are great, of course... but I love the darkness of the other songs, too, like Under The Rose. | |

| I'm listening to this one right now. Always loved Ace's "Dark Light". Also, "I" and "The Oath" just sound like good 'ol KISS to me. "Escape from the Island" is a cool instrumental.
I really like the live versions from the FRIDAYS show. Glad to have that on DVD on Kissology Vol. 2.

That's my favorite ELDER track too. Years ago I was at an Ace solo gig in a club in NJ and he played "Talk To Me" off of "Unmasked," which I thought was kind of an obscure pick (I think me and maybe three other people in the place knew the song, everyone else had these "??" looks on their faces), so just to be a wise ass I started yelling "HEY ACE, HOW'BOUT DARK LIGHT, MAN?" He didn't acknowledge it (or play the song), but somebody else in the room agreed with me, cuz from the other side of the club I heard this drunken voice bellowing "F**K YEAH ACE! PLAY F**KIN' DARK LIGHT, MOTHERF**KER!" over and over again for the rest of the show.

| I've never heard The Elder, but I am familiar with the song "I". Anyone remember the band Hair of the Dog? They did a really cool cover of the song on the album Rise. I say cool because, even though I've never heard the original to compare it to, any band that would choose to cover such an obscure KISS tune from one of their most obscure albums must be cool. | |

I have those clips on a bootleg compilation. I haven't watched'em in a long time but if memory serves, they did the "Fridays" show as a 3-piece without Ace, who wanted nothing to do with THE ELDER by that time. It looked very strange seeing them up there lip syncing the songs, with one guy missing.

| No that's not the Friday. I know of what you're talking about. They were doing I as a trio. But on the Friday Ace is there and the songs are live. |

Hmm, I may have to go digging thru my bootleg vids to be sure. I could've sworn that clip as a trio was from "Fridays." (Which was a god-awful show, by the way; a very short lived attempt by ABC Network to copy the "Saturday Night Live" formula. A young Michael Richards (aka Kramer of "Seinfeld" fame) was one of the show's cast members if memory serves.)

| Love it. I had the benefit of looking at it more objectively when I got into KISS about the time Psycho Circus came out. That said, initially, I didn't like it either. But in years, it's grown on me. Definitely sounds of the era with all those fantasy musicals. | |

(I haven't watched some of my old bootleg vids in a while...) It sez this was taped for a "European broadcast," maybe I just confused it with the "Fridays" show. OK, consider me schooled.

I'm not sure anymore, I was a big time KISS collector geek during the early 90s so I've had some of those tapes for years...mostly compilations of old concerts, TV appearances, stuff like that... I bought some at KISS conventions, some were dubbed for me by friends/collectors, and I probably ordered some thru the mail too.
