Yea, it's a pleasant surprise. It kept coming up as a recommendation on Amazon, so I gave it a shot. Of course, the album cover helped grab my attention as well...

That's the one that has "Play It All Night Long" with "brucellosis" in the lyrics. Only Zevon could pull that off.

How does their stuff hold up, Toho? It's all up-beat, punky-pop covers right? I've been curious about these guys, but I'm afraid the novelty would wear off kinda quick and I'd end up shelving them.

Anywhere in particular a noob should start if I wanted to get a taste?

Unfortunatly the Answer disc is going back. I paid for the 2-disc limited edition and the regular single-disc edition showed up. I've already contacted the seller on Amazon. Hopefully this won't become a big pain in the ass getting either a refund or the right item.

Well, the disc went back and I got my refund. Bummer that they didn't have the right item. Oh well. I ripped this one to my computer before sending it back so I'll have a copy, but I'm still on the look-out for the 2-disc version.

Yeah, it's all covers. These guys are all in other power pop bands but this side project is all covers and usually they're covers that are radically different from the original. They are basically a one-trick pony and listening to an album all the way through in one sitting gets kind of monotonous because it all sounds the same. But their reworking of songs I hate with a fiery passion (like Manilow's "Mandy" or "Tomorrow" from the musical Annie) make it worthwhile to purchase their stuff IMO. What I like to do is rip some Me First tracks to a thumb drive then play the drive on random in the car.

Check YouTube for soundclips; last time I looked there were quite a few out there. I'd start with the Have A Ball album.

That's what I was afraid of. I still might check them out at some point though. The clips I've heard sound like fun. Chris Shiflett (2nd guitarist for the Foo Fighters) is, or was, a member of the band which put them on my radar. Thanks.
