Most songs listed as being a "ballad" aren't. Ballads are supposed to tell stories about specific people/characters. So a song like "The Boys Are Back In Town" is closer to being a true ballad.
While you may be correct on the true definition of a ballad I think most would agree that the industry as well as most fans base the ballad on the slower music with a nice guitar solo instead of the lyrics. i agree that in a true sense "The boys are back in town" lyrically would be a ballad and a song like "Home Sweet Home" would be more of a love song most people would see it the other way....That being said Charlie Daniels has written some fine American ballads throughout his career.

I really don't know if I consider Aerosmith's "Dream On" as a power ballad. Tyler screaming his lungs out throughout the song kind of takes the ballad out of it for me.
When I think of power ballad, I think the vocals can't get too carried away.

Scorpion's "Life's Like A River"
Does this count? This is probably the only song that I can listen to over and over again

Bumping in reference to the Slow Jamz thread. Some good "slow jamz" contained within here too.
