Hey everyone! I've been getting into swing jazz, such as Count Basie. Does anyone know musicians/groups that sound like him?

Probably not what you're looking for but have you heard Diablo Swing Orchestra? Sort of swing meets metal meets everything else.

I love swing - stuff from the dorsey brothers to miller to more modern day stuff from Brian Setzer, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and Squirrel Nut Zippers.

I like BBVD, Brian Setzer and some of the old Frank Sinatra/Count Bassie stuff. That's as about as deep as I go in the genre.

All I know about Jazz is that it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing. Doo-wap, doo-wap, doo-wap, doo-wap, doo-wap.

On occasion, just to mix things up a bit, I'll put on the swing/jazz channel on sattelite radio. I hear some interesting stuff, but nothing that I need to purchase. Lord knows I don't need another genre of music to start collecting.

Duke Ellington - The Blanton/Webster Band (early 40's) should be very high on your list.
Louis Jordan - any greatest hits compilation of the Tympani 5 recordings (mid 40's)
Nat King Cole Trio - small group swing at it's finest (all on Capitol)
Anything by Lester Young.
Benny Goodman - 30's to early 40's
I'll post more later when I have time
