I've always thought naming your band in a non-English tongue was instant kiss of death. For example, Naio Ssaion from Slovenia. They had a cool female-fronted power metal vibe going but had a violinist that help separate them from the pack. Unsurprisingly they haven't released anything since 2005.

Found an album just today of a trad/heavy metal band called Lipstick Liontigers. That's a f*cking stupid name. The music is pretty good though.

Fantastic band, but on the name front... I don't know. The band name does fit the corny image/lyrics that they use so as a package it works.
Another one that I thought of is the Skankin' Pickles.

This is my problem with a lot of band names. Liontigers I'm okay with. Even think it is kinda a cool name. But then they have to add the Lipstick. Why? Outside of some legal reason, shorter is better. Leave the descriptive qualifiers and adjectives off the band name, I say.

It is stupid. The proper name for the species is 'liger', therefore the name should be Lipstick Ligers, unless they're going purposely lowbrow, in which case I can't decide if that's punk rock or not.

I was checking out some death/thrash bands on YouTube and ran across Vaginal Discharge. What 12 year old prepubescent came up with that name?
I was also thinking about Satan. Now here is a band whose band name definitely held them back, especially since their name doesn't even reflect their lyrics.
Vicious Rumors, sounds like a glam band, but never were.
What are some other bad band names?
ETHAL THE FROG. I mean, why do some bands shoot themselves in the foot right from the word go? Making it in rock music is nigh on impossible without making damn sure you have f**k all chance with a stupid name that is laughed at. Lets face it, us metal heads are snobs and we judge everything a bit too much. So having a daft name is hardly going to endear one to the community you're trying to sell records to. Mutilated Genitals might sell a few copies to a few 12 year olds - bar that - can't see much of market for them.
