| Speaking from experience, the person who left the note might have done the only thing he or she could have done. You cannot help an addict if they don't want to get better. Sounds like a cliche now, but it's 100% true. You just can't help them sometimes. | |

- According to TMZ.com, officials have determined that former WARRANT singer Jani Lane died from alcohol poisoning.
The Los Angeles County coroner's office has completed its investigation and concluded Lane had suffered from "acute ethanol poisoning" when he died at a Comfort Inn motel room in Woodland Hills, California on August 11.
TMZ.com previously reported that investigators found a half-empty bottle of vodka and prescription medication in the hotel room where Lane's body was discovered.

| "Catch A Falling Star" track listing: 01. I Want You To Want Me (feat. Ryan Roxie, ALICE COOPER) 02. Panama 03. Photograph 04. The Ocean 05. Doctor, Doctor 06. Electric Eye 07. Free For All (feat. Jake E. Lee, ex-OZZY OSBOURNE) 08. No Surprise (feat. Chris Holmes, ex-W.A.S.P.) 09. Lay Your Hands On Me (feat. Erik Turner, Jerry Dixon) Jani Lane joined WARRANT in 1985, and together the band lit up the L.A. club circuit, becoming an international sensation with multi-platinum albums and an adoring fanbase. Always a music lover at heart, after Lane left WARRANT in 2004, he continued to write and record, often paying homage to some of his musical heroes by participating in tribute projects to CHEAP TRICK, JUDAS PRIEST and others. Now a new CD compilation collects some of these superb solo performances in one convenient package and for the first time ever on vinyl! "Catch A Falling Star", which includes Lane's takes on UFO's "Doctor, Doctor", DEF LEPPARD's "Photograph" and BON JOVI's epic "Lay Your Hands On Me", will be released February 26 on Deadline Music. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | Ahhh, good ol' Deadline Music, as tasteful as ever. At least they waited till he was cold before cashing in.
...but seriously, I have a couple of the Deadline tribute albums these tracks came from. If you don't have any of those CDs (which can usually be found dirt cheap online) I guess this would be a decent pickup. I particularly liked Jani's performance of Aerosmith's "No Surprize" (from Not The Same Old Song and Dance). _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Yea, I thought the title was a little in bad taste as well. I have most of these tracks from the various tributes they were culled from too, so I'll probably pass on this. Or maybe not. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| Not surprised with the title used... just what I'd expect from a label called Deadline. | |

| I'm more shocked that Deadline is still around. Are those tribute albums/re-recordings THAT profitable? Also, are they the ones responsible for all those "compilations" on spotify like "100 hair metal hits", which mainly consist of covers and re-recordings?

| Yeesh, that's almost as bad as that one Great White bootleg compilation titled Burning House of Love(which came out after the Station Nightclub fire, there was another bootleg called "Double Dose" that had a burning shark on the cover). | |

| I read about this a few days ago. I have most of these songs already as I have most of the Cleopatra/Deadline catalog in my collection, but I will prob grab this at some point. I have the UFO cover of "Doctor, Doctor" on a comp in the car right now. | |

Deadline is a subsidiary of Cleopatra Records, so they must be doing something right to still stay afloat in today's market. Instead of more covers, I think I'll put Jani's solo record into rotation this week instead. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was.
