Quantizing drum parts was already common (I learned it in school), as was adding trigger effects to kick drum hits (which started in the 80's), etc.
Yeah, I know triggering was already in use...I'm just saying that with technology the way it is now, it is MUCH harder to pick out and distinguish real drums from programmed and/or triggered drums...mainly because the samples used are recorded from live drums.

Cakewalk and the others were just starting, but in the early days Pro Tools kind of had the market cornered. These days of course technology has moved on and there are countless programs to choose from.
Yeah, Pro-Tools was king of the castle for a bit...but it's beginning to branch out now.

oooooh yeah, while some tracks on "Stand in line" and "Grind and bear it" are always good (leviathan, ball and chain, stand in line) most of them feel extremely dated in comparison to his newer material.

I kind of dislike most of those funky 80s rock albums now. Like this stuff:
Used to have that King of the Hill CD on tape, just upgraded to CD earlier this week. I dig it still, but the style tends to sound cheesy to me these days. And seriously, did that singer go on to form Milli Vanilli?

Dude, I am loving that White Trash track. Then again, I have spent much of the last few weeks listening to the Spin Doctors, so it's safe to say I have a soft-spot for cheesy '90s funk-pop-rock. On that note;
So early '90s it hurts.

I still enjoy the style, but in small doses. But in 2011, it just seems like an uncomfortable marriage of styles. Then again, here's a band I've never gotten sick of:
Go figure, huh? Such an underrated band.

White Trash and Kingofthehill were crap-ola when they were current...
I used to really dig Extreme's first couple of records but whoooo boy have they aged badly. PORNOGRAFFITI still has its moments (though I never want to hear "More Than Words" ever again as long as I live) but the debut is absolutely doused in Van Halen-wannabe cheez whiz.

There are tons of releases that I used to think were perfect back in the day and now, although I still enjoy them, don't think they are quite as untouchable. Namely "Master of Puppets".

I think Pornograffiti is still fantastic, but I definitely agree about the first one. Really, a surprisingly weak debut that sounds awfully generic.

Completely agree on Extreme. I loved them back in the day but when I pulled out their first two a month ago they had aged badly. Oh well. Such is life.

Body Count's S/T (with the infamous "Cop Killer") is another one that has aged badly. At the time that came out, everybody was AFRAID of that record, like it was the most bad-ass, angriest, most hardcore thing ever released on a major label ... now it just sounds cartoonish.
I agree. It sounds cartoonish today but I still love the title track a lot, especially main man Ernie C on guitar

I still love this album. Yes it doesn't sound too original that's for sure. Wish it had better production too. I dig Let Him Take Control - got that Led Zeppelin vibe, especially The Battle of Evermore.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the "IN GOD WE TRUST" album by Stryper. Perhaps I just missed it...
For me anything that was "grotesquely" trendy never ages well. This includes 90 % of anything that you would hear on top 40 radio, or anything trying to be top 40 radio.
