You should've seen the cover they WANTED to use. It wasn't a glove, believe me. Classic! _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| I have Annihilator's "Canrnival Diablos" with an extra front cover, probably meant to be put in front of the rather grim booklet cover. It's a close up with less details and gore. _________________ | |

I don't think I've ever seen the "bikini version" in real life. All cpies I've seen are the nekkid chick. This is normally seen in arabic and muslim countries, where girls are not supposed to exhibit themselves. So ignorant and hypocrit...

- In Germany Butchered At Birth from Cannibal Corpse is forbidden because of the cover and the lyrics. You might get it with another cover and without the lyrics, but Amazon does not have it. Also no advertising and public sale for Eaten Back to Life, Tomb of the Mutilated, Hammer Smashed Face EP, Worm Infested EP, Evisceration Plague. The last one for lyrics not because of the cover.
I remember hearing the first three Cannibal Corpse's albums are banned in Germany due to the lyrics. Odd, as the first one is one of their "tamer" (I know that's not saying much) albums lyrically (Evisceration Plague is probably the tamest lyrically, if I recall correctly).

| When I mentioned Body Count's first album in the "hasn't aged well" thread, I remembered this: When Sire Records removed the song "Cop Killer" from that album and re-released it to stores (with a spoken word track in its place), the album cover was also altered - the "Cop Killer" tattoo on the gangsta's chest was replaced with the words "Body Count" _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Arn't Cannibal Corpse banned from even proforming some songs in Germany because of the lyrical content? I seem to remember an interview with one member saying how he was annoyed about not being able to play any early songs in Germany.

Replaced with a generic logo cover...
If memory serves, certain folks in the Christian bookstore industry were freaked out about the presence of a pentagram on the original cover (even though said pentagram was being "cast out" or "thrown out" of the picture) and therefore didn't want to stock the album.
When I bought THWTD on cassette in '86 there was a little sticker on the back of the cassette case with a message from the band "explaining" the concept of the cover. I thought it was kinda stupid that they even had to 'explain' it, cuz the message/idea seemed quite clear to me even at sixteen years old. Duh.
[/quote
Yep, I got the sticker too:
I know it is an old thread, and I'm sorry for bringing it back. I just wanted to question whether or not the Stryper cover was actually banned. I have always thought so, but then I stumbled across something that said it wasn't banned, just a limited edition and the goofy sticker in this picture seems to support that. Does anyone know for certain? I mean, I guess they could have added the "limited edition" idea after they had received a bunch of flak about the cover and decided to change it. If I remember correctly, the first pressing was the original cover. The sticker was added on the second run of the LP/Cassette and first run of the Christian bookstore version (through the Christian Bookstore Distributor), all caused because of people who run Christian Bookstores and sell to Christian bookstores. They were afraid of backlash and people not shopping at their stores because of it.

Anyone else notice how similiar these 3 new-ish releases are: Thought that was kinda odd, nothing more. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. yep. I thought the same thing. I dont think the Trixter is all that similar to the Scorps but it and the Heart cover do share some similarities. _________________

How is it that "Dawn of The Black Hearts" by Mayhem wasn't banned!? That is a bootleg. So that whole release is banned, as in illegal. _________________

See, I never got why they did this. The first one, sure, might be scary by some standards, but it's very "comic book" in nature. To me, the second cover is MUCH scarier and creepier because it's more realistic - going "under the knife" is a very real fear for some, and the maniacal look on the surgeon's faces is unsettling, to say the least. I, personally, find the "safe" cover to be much more menacing. - MetalGuy71 wrote:

| "Pleasures of the Flesh" by Exodus originally had a picture of a bunch of cannibals doing what cannibals usually do. That pic even made it to the magazine ads, but by the time the album cover came out it was just that shot of them at the bar. | |
