| You left out Overkill's F**k You. It came wrapped in what looked like a garbage bag. But the band did keep their original artwork. | |

banned sold anywhere If a band releases an album and noone is around to hear it, does it make a sound? I remember on another message board, someone said there was a used CD store with the album (with the album cover with people defecating on others on it). The owner wouldn't put the album on the shelves, but did offer it to someone there who bought similar bands. Also, another Waco Jesus album, Filth, has an album cover that could offend people. One person described the album cover, "I didn't know there was a Goatse woman." The explicit album covers can be seen here (although I wouldn't recommend it to those who just ate a big dinner): http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=3482 Their lyrics would also offend those easy to offend. I haven't heard their newest album but they seem to have toned themselves down considerably in all "likely to offend" departments. Personally, I believe their early material sucked anyways.

The first one was so much nicer. Was it necessary to replace it?

| Replaced with a generic logo: Apparently the first image was too dramatic/shocking for the Christian bookstores, so they created the censored version for them to sell. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| I had several of those. I guess I should have kept them. Two things, 1st. on the Mayhem - It is a Bootleg which means it was not mass distributed. 2nd the Bride album was the Jesus Experience album and it was on the inside under the CD.

The cassette (and later, the first CD) version of "F**k You" was sold in some stores with the booklet/J-card reversed so all it showed was a plain white cover with the band's logo and the words "**** YOU - The Record THEY Tried To Ban!" When you bought the cassette and opened it up, the "uncensored" cover and info was on the inside of the j-card, so all you had to do was fold it the other way and you were good to go. - Quote :

They wanted the CDs to resemble silver dollars, too. Supposedly the government shot that idea down (as well as the green color on the "dollar" design of the front cover) because it's illegal to reproduce exact images of U.S. currency. It's considered a form of counterfeiting! _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

If memory serves, certain folks in the Christian bookstore industry were freaked out about the presence of a pentagram on the original cover (even though said pentagram was being "cast out" or "thrown out" of the picture) and therefore didn't want to stock the album.
When I bought THWTD on cassette in '86 there was a little sticker on the back of the cassette case with a message from the band "explaining" the concept of the cover. I thought it was kinda stupid that they even had to 'explain' it, cuz the message/idea seemed quite clear to me even at sixteen years old. Duh.
When I upgraded to CD a few years ago the only used copies I could find had the "logo" cover on'em so even though I would've liked to have one with the original (I'm told they're rather pricey collectibles nowadays) I finally settled for one of the "updated" ones. (Hey, at least it was on the original label, i.e. Enigma, not Hollywood.) Yes,plus the rumor was certain closed minded folk thought that the pentagram was actually on the angels wing instead of being chained to the devil. Its ridiculous for sure.Luckily the band released the cd with angel artwork again a few years ago,so I picked one up then.Seems Stryper have trouble with artwork. They had to change the color of the dollar bill on In God We Trust from green to white.Silly! I always wondered why To Hell With The Devil had such a generic looking album cover. Looks awesome, too bad close minded idiots made such a fuss. I need to get that album with that cover if it's not too hard to find.

| Stryper and Mortification's dilemas are still going today. They don't have it anymore but Mardel had a censored copy of Seventh Angel-The Dust Of Years. It only had the band logo and the album name with the album cover's color scheme in the background. I guess the blood splatter was too offensive. | |

| In Germany Butchered At Birth from Cannibal Corpse is forbidden because of the cover and the lyrics. You might get it with another cover and without the lyrics, but Amazon does not have it. Also no advertising and public sale for Eaten Back to Life, Tomb of the Mutilated, Hammer Smashed Face EP, Worm Infested EP, Evisceration Plague. The last one for lyrics not because of the cover. | |

| Not sure if this qualifies as a "banned" album cover per say, but Aerosmith released a 2nd version of Nine Lives after some folks of the Hindu (?) religion complained that the original artwork (both cover and inserts) was disrespectful. I also heard that there was copyright issues with the some of the original artwork as well. Original... Revised... _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

You should've seen the cover they WANTED to use. It wasn't a glove, believe me. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"
