| Unless you're talking upgrades from cassette or vinyl to CD, I don't have any "duplicates." I've bought newer versions of stuff I already have on CD on occasion (i.e. if it gets reissued with a bunch of bonus tracks) but when that happens I trade off the "old" CD. I have limited storage space so it wouldn't make sense for me to have three, four or more copies of the same CD.
The lone exception to the above would be Bad Biscut's THE AMERICAN DREAM?, which I have two copies of. One CD has a slightly different cover than the second, and both CDs have different track listings (i.e. the bulk of the songs are the same, but they're not in the same order and there are a few songs on each disc aren't on the other one). Each CD even has a different "hidden" track at the end. I've tried to research why the two versions of the CD are so different from one another but have never come up with anything. I can only assume one is an earlier pressing, and that the band/label must've gone back and tinkered with the artwork and running order at some point before pressing more discs. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Yes I do. Lots of them. Mostly though, I have duplicates because of different track listings on albums. Also, I kept my original Megadeth CDs when I got those 2004 "remixes" because I knew Dave had changed guitar parts and vocals on many of the tracks. That is unacceptable to me. | |

| Most of my duplicates come from an old copy being scratched up (I foolishly used to use those visor folders for the car) and my finding a cheap one in better condition. I also have some duplicates from buying of lots off ebay.
Recently I bought two AC/DC Black Ice discs from Hastings since I needed four CDs to get the 4 for a dollar sale kicked in. At least with that one the covers are different colors.

- I still have a copy of Appetite for Destruction on cassette even though I'm not sure I have a working cassette player in the house anymore.
I have a couple of cassette versions of my more listened-to albums (like Sacred Heart by Dio and I think I have some others), because my dad's car used to only have a cassette deck in it, and I wanted to get my metal on (it was, after all, nicknamed the Band Mobile!). Other than that, I keep everything I have in MP3 because I really adore my ipod, but I usually don't keep multiple CD's or vinyls, mainly because I just don't usually have the money for multiples I rarely buy CD's in bulk, so that could explain some of it (I think I should start, though; I feel like it's a better way to get into more music). Anyway... this turned out to be much longer than expected. Sorry 'bout that

| Yes- a lot- and good stuff too. This happened because back in the day before burning discs and MP3, whenever I found one of my favorite albums on CD for under 5 bucks or so I would buy it even if I already had one copy. I put them away for safe-keeping in case of fire or tornado I guess. A senseless waste of money in retrospect. So I have extra copies of a hundred or so of my favorite CD's up to about '93 just sitting in my garage for no good reason. I guess there have been a few times when I scratch a disc and the extra copy comes in handy, but other than that they are just sitting out there. Maybe some weekend I'll inventory them and list them here. | |
