| I still have a copy of Appetite for Destruction on cassette even though I'm not sure I have a working cassette player in the house anymore. Other than that and maybe a few vinyls, I think that's it. I would have no reason to keep multiple copies of the same cd. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. But, I got rid of The Joshua Tree and The Unforgettable Fire on CD when I got the super deluxe boxes...and I got rid of Heaven And Hell and Mob Rules when I got the Rules Of Hell box...I've regretted all of it. | |

| I have many classic Christian metal albums on both cassette and CD. I love my tape collection and saw no reason to get rid of stuff just because I had upgraded to a CD copy. Plus, I have some stuff I've never found on CD so the tape is all I have. | |

In the past, a few times I've considdered holding on to an original copy of [disc X] after purchasing the super-duper deluxe version, but ended up ditching the originals. I'm not that hardcore of a collector that I need to own every version available. 1 copy is enough for me. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | I have some duplicates on LP, plus with my jazz collection, I have several duplicates (Japanese & US) for example. Usually because the Japanese version sounds better...but the US versions will have bonus tracks (or vice versa).
Blue Note albums never sounded better than in the Japanese TOCJ series. Unless of course you have the fortune to invest in original pressing deep groove vinyl (usually over $1000 per album, I've seen some sell for as high as $6000). |

| I have duplicate albums on CD and vinyl, but I do not keep any duplicate copies of anything I own, I usually give it away once a copy on CD.
I have copy of Scorpions 'Lonesome Crow' and Sex Pistols "Mini Album' on cassette that giving to the library and when I meet Jokerman for the Maiden show, I plan to give him Iron Maiden to Seventh Son on vinyl, with exception of 'Maiden Japan' I will keep that one.
I have few later day Nugent albums I will get rid of soon also. | |

| I have a ton of duplicates between vinyl and CD but only 2 duplicate CDs. I have the original release and the remastered versions of Rush 2112 and BOC Spectres. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| I usually prefer not to, but I have on a few occasions. First of all, there have been a couple of albums that I purchased twice because sometime after I bought them they were re-issued with bonus live DVDs (namely Morbid Angel's Altars of Madness and Venom's Black Metal). Those DVDs were never released by themselves, so I felt that those upgrades were necessary and absolutely worth it! Also, sometimes I may want to replace a crappy bootleg copy with an official copy. Bootleg CDs are fine as a last resort, and a lot of the bootleg CDs I have were purchased before the official re-issue CDs came out. It seems like the older I get, the more bootleg stuff bothers me, especially bootleg shirts. However, I ALWAYS have the intention of getting rid of the copy that I first bought rather than hang on to multiple copies of the same album. There's just no sense in keeping things that you don't want or don't need lying around...and I have my share of useless crap that I'd like to have out of my possession. | |

| I used to own several copies of some albums, but not anymore. I only keep the "prefered" version, as in the remastered version with bonus songs or whatnot. | I'm a sucker for different packaging, covers, bonus tracks etc, but it depends on the band and how cashed up I am at any given time . I have U2 -The Joshua Tree, War and Boy as super deluxe versions along with regular original presses. Ironically I have quite a few of the bonus tracks from the super deluxe versions on various U2 CD singles, too, but that's another story. Stryper is one band I have different vinyls of (Japanese, coloured vinyls, picture discs), along with the original US press and Japanese press of each studio album (original angel art and hand of God!). then there are random duplicates from bands like King's X, Mortification, Saxon, Holy Soldier, Seventh Angel, Detritus, Narnia, Bloodgood, even Dire Straits, in original and Japanese pressings or on vinyl and CD. Much as I love it, it's often a choice between new music or another version of soemthing I've already got, and new music will win almost every time! | |
