1988 - Heavy Metal! THE POLL

Great year. I think the two albums that impressed me the most were "Dimension Hatross" and "The Land Of Rape And Honey"...just because they were trying different things.

Favorite overall album of the year was "South Of Heaven".

Wow that was tough! Went with Sanctuary in the end, but those albums by Helstar, Exciter, and Judas Priest are all regulars in my cd player as well

I know a lot of people did not like it but I always liked Ram It Down

Mindcrime by faaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Went with Maiden. Sanctuary was a close second.

Went with Helloween on this one, these polls aren't getting any easier. Nearly had a stroke trying to make up my mind.

Man, I was tore between Sanctuary and Fates Warning, but I ended up going with Fates.

Ram it down is a very enjoyable album.

I was spinning it last night at work.

Had to go with Queensryche. I was never a huge fan of the band, but that is one of my all time favorite albums.

half the list was thrash so I dont count those cuz they were on another thrash list. Of the remaining, it was torn between 7th Son and Fates Warning, and I too went with "No Exit". "Ivory Gate" is untouchable.

Operation: Mindcrime has my vote.

I'm not sure which.

Tough call between Seventh Son and Keeper Pt. 2 but I had to go with the former because The Evil That Men Do is my favourite song of all time.

Second choice would be King's X.

Maiden and QR are neck and neck. I honestly thought that Maiden would run away with this poll.

Touch choice but I will go with the Maiden album I know by heart. I can recreate the entire album in my head without listening to a single note.

After re-listening to both OPERATION: MINDCRIME and SEVENTH SON OF A SEVENTH SON, I've determined that OPERATION: MINDCRIME is the superior album.
