I really don't think he sounds like King Diamond, he's not really a traditional "metal" vocalist, more of a pop vibe. They use very lush vocal harmonies on the album, which adds to the overall pop feel of the songs. That's why they are so catchy.

I wasn't blown away by it at first, as it initially all sounds a bit 'samey'; but Destruction's Day Of Reckoning has grown on me like a tumor. I think so far this year, it's out in front.
Awful lyrics, obviously; but what an anthem this is:

That "Ghost" video was a little....odd. Haha. I'll have to look into hearing some studio stuff though. "Live" is not always the best way to experience a band for the first time.

Yeah, I'm a Destruction fanboy, so of course I like it. I can't wait to get my physical copy of the cd so I can give it a real go around!

Ghost has a "schtick", not that different than Alice Cooper, Kiss, Mercyful Fate, etc. The lead singer wears deathmask makeup, the other band members all wear grimmrobes and black masks that cover their faces. No band member names, just "six nameless ghouls". It all makes for excellent camp.
The lyrics are all Hammer Horror inspired goofiness, not to be taken seriously unless you were really scared by 1960's occult films.
Not satanists, just really good marketing ideas backed up by excellent music.
What's funny to me is that from what I've read the black metal crowd is just as weirded out by them as Christian listeners. It's like they want to get into them because of the lyrical content but the cartoony "wink-wink" presentation is screwing with their heads
I like what I've heard of it so far. Definitely strong with that BOC influence.
