Best Cover of Paint It Black

So, I was discussing covers with a friend tonight, and we got to discussing WASP's rather cool cover of "Paint It Black," a song I think it should be illegal to cover these days. Everyone covers it! There's a billion covers of this song! And sadly, few bands make it their own. A couple do. Grip Inc. does a cool cover, though it's a rare song, only available as a bonus track.

Based on uniqueness, what band does the best cover? My vote:

Brilliant! Sounds very little like the originally. What's your vote? Add a video, if you can.

I love W.A.S.P.'s version of Paint it Black! W.A.S.P. have done a lot of cool cover songs but I think that one's my fave.

Tipton's isn't bad either. In fact it's one of the better songs on his solo record (BAPTIZM OF FIRE).

Vicious Rumors did a cool cover of it when Carl Albert was still in the band too, I think it's on that memorial EP they put out after he died.

I used tyo have a mix tape some girl from canada made me....this was in like 1988. There was a power metalish band called CHINATOWN on it, doing a cover of this song, and it ruled. I have NEVER been able to find anything about the or that song again...nor anything by the other cool bands that she'd put on there: OSIRIS, NITEVIGIL...sadly.

Rage's cover is very interesting. Very different. But,when I saw the title to the thread I thought of W.A.S.P.'s version. Probably because I just heard it the other day.

If you can find the 77's doing this, it's great. I couldn't find any legal samples.

Even the Rage version? Man, that one rules. But this thread illustrates my issues with this song being covered. Nearly every cover is the same.

"Brown-Eyed Girl" is another song I'd put on a Cover Ban list. Blech.

This is the first band I thought of, and no I couldn't find any video of this either. I'm a big Mike Roe fan, most of the music he makes and the projects he is a part of.

Yea even the Rage version. When I first heard it I thought it sounded familiar then I realized what it was. I thought it was ok at first but I just don't like the song in general. Then when I got into WASP I heard that version, then Anvils version. The song just isn't that good of a song to cover and why so many bands have done it I have no idea. I'm not a fan of the Rolling Stones but they have better songs than that one I would rather hear.
