Tough call on this one. Really a toss up between Peace Sells, Master of Puppets and Doomsday for the Deceiver. In the end, I went with Peace Sells.

"Reign in Blood" seems to be Slayer's most popular album, but I've always preferred their first two to this one. It is amazing that an album that barely clocks in at half an hour is so darned influential.

At War, Hallows Eve and Metal Church are all albums that I spent a lot of time listening to back then as well. I just don't really see Metal Church as thrash.

Oh they are, and that album along with MoP and Peace Sells and Reign In Blood were on the short list of the very best of 1986. There were so many honorable mention albums as well, alot of the more obscure stuff, and thrashier stuff as well.

Really tough call here!

For me the three it really came down to were Darkness Descends, Doomsday For the Deceiver, and Game Over.

I love Peace Sells, but I've always been of the minority that prefers the albums that came before and after it.

Anyways, I went with Game Over. This is an album that I initially didn't like as much but it slowly grew on me over time. I'm not so sure if they ever topped this album either.

Master of Puppets, the first Metallica I had heard at this point. Mind-blowing.

Despite being a Slayer fan(atic), I chose Dark Angel.

I was really split, but everyone says the big three thrash albums (puppets, peace, an reign).

No doubt Reign definitely is extremely influential, but I felt that Darkness Descends deserved a vote for being on the same tier as Slayer.
