I don't think it's the avatar that will make people take others less seriously. Just speaking in general, I think it is the post count. It's only natural to feel that way, too. You never know for sure who is going to be here for the long haul.

I don't know, I never think much about people's avatars because I put little thought into them myself. I usually just put the cover of some random album I love so as to keep things slightly fresh. Though I did have Bruce Campbell for a while there...
