Been listening to this band frequently recently, I like all their albums except the ones without Jim martin on it because Mike Patton probably dominated the band too much and started becoming too experimental in a boring way and had lost its fire. Alot of people hate the pre Mike Patton era of Faith No More but I like it I even like the singer even though he isn't as good as Mike Patton. Ok with their first album We Care Alot they had a long way to go as musicians but Introduce yourself had some good songs like the remix of We Care Alot. But the best albums would be the real thing and Angel Dust where the chemistry of both Jim Martin and Mike Patton marked the pinnacle of the band's creativity.

But Martin barely wrote a thing on Angel Dust. It was pretty much all Patton, Bottum and Gould. What makes Angel Dust so great to me is its sheer intensity. Every fibre of it is delivered viscerally, it absolutelly floored me the first time I heard it.

Album Of The Year is their best, IMO...

Maybe so, but Jim Martin's guitar sound is still there

The only one I own is The Real Thing. Never felt compelled to dig any deeper with this band.

I've always really liked The Real Thing and We Care A Lot. I lost interest after Angel Dust.

King For A Day is the opus magnum of the career, but I enjoy all the albums almost evenly. The last album was the only one that felt more obligated than creative, not to say it isnt creative but it just didnt flow like they were having fun anymore.
Patton is a creative force and is very versatile covering all styles of music. Sadly he seem to lose his edge after his second Fantomas album. Just nothing really as impressive. Mondo Cane is probably his first good thing in awhile.
Now that FNM tour again, maybe they will shake the stubbornness and actually write some music again too!

Ditto. I had ANGEL DUST on cassette many moons ago but never felt compelled to upgrade it to CD. REAL THING has held up well though.
Legend has it that FNM made ANGEL DUST weird and off the wall on purpose in order to lose all of the "trendy" pop fans that they'd picked up thanks to "Epic." If that's true, then it worked in my case.

'Angel Dust' is my favorite album from Faith No More and still thinks it holds up very well.
I discovered them when everybody else did on the Real Thing.

Oh, a Faith No More Thread. I'm a big fan. All of their albums are great and have a unique sound to all of them.
Also Patton is one of my favorite rock vocalists.

I got into Faith No More when The Real Thing came out. It's a really good album. I do enjoy most of their catalog. But Angel Dust is my favorite FNM album.

Never owned any of the Chuck-era albums, but I do like We Care A Lot. That said, I'm a big fan of the Patton-era. Angel Dust is probably my fave, with King and AotY being tied for 2nd place.

I enjoy Faith No More - cool stuff.
Saw Fantomas open for Tool back in October '01 in NYC - really weird and dumb.

I was fortunate enough to meet Mike Patton several years ago at a signing / meet-n-greet session. I got The Real Thing signed and a photo taken with him. He was pretty cool although not so keen to sign that album as he was promoting Peeping Tom at the time.

Patton seems a bit of a tool from the interviews I've seen, but what a front man! I saw FNM live last year at Donington and Patton had all eyes on him. It was absolutely stunning. They're a great live band as a whole, but Patton just takes things further.

Like others, I got introduced to FNM with the music video for Epic and they became my favorite band. I was so excited when Angel Dust was released and I saw the music video for Midlife Crisis. While I really liked The Real Thing, I absolutly LOVE Angel Dust. I then got Introduce Yoursefl and was less than impressed with Mosley so I didn't have it that long. I also liked the music video for Digging A Grave but when I got King For A Day, I was disappointed by the lack of heaviness (which was attributed to the loss of Martin). In recent years I got Album Of The Year and recaptured King For A Day and have got used to them but they don't touch the big two. I also got Introduce Yourself again and have gotten use to Mosley's unique voice and actually think it's better than the post Angel Dust albums (due to the awesome guitar work of Martin.

I used to listen to them religiously, because a band I was in years ago loved them, but I just can't dig on 'em anymore.
Something about Patton's voice that irritates me these days.

Ditto for me. I've heard an occasional song or 2 that was ok, but nothing that sparked my interest.
On a side note, I saw one of Mike Patton's bands (Phantomas?) opening for someone, (I forget who) and they were horrible. I guess they are supposed to be avant garde, but it just sounded like noise and screaming to me. Even when the band would start to settle into a groove, they immediatley switch up gears and made more noise. Patton just screamed over everything. No singing. Terrible.

I was a Chuck Mosely fan so I will always favor Introduce Yourself era FNM. However I did come around with Patton once I saw them live opening for Billy Idol.
