Amen to that. PPL term it Emo just because of the style of music which mostly consists of punk/pop rock and the clean whiny vocals that seem depressing

Well, genres are stupid things. We all know that! Haha. My whole point is that today's emo is nothing like it was originally. Today's emo is pop rock.

I still don't understand what "emo" is. But I've decided that I no longer care.

i would describe them as a band that try to appeal to a large audience - metal, hardcore and emo - cant really blame them for trying to put money on table and i have seen them live twice but i dont care for them eveb though they are quite talented obviously

A guy who has some decent taste was telling me today the BFMV was a
thrash metal band. I was pretty sceptical, but he's going to let me
listen to them so I can make up my own mind. Does that sound right to
anyone?

Oh and I LOVE Fugazi...... They were an evolvement of punk, not punk in
the sense of Dead Kennedy's or Sex Pistols or GBH (which is an ironic
name now), but I have always considered them a punk band.

Yes, I did.

That was always my impression as well, but I've never heard them. I was a bit puzzled at the thrash tag.

Not a fan from what I heard but im gotta hear some more to truely judge

I dont like Bullet at all.

And from what I remember, when I first heard the term "emo" it was way before all the current shite like fallout boy, what it was attached to was more like hardcore mixed with some indie stuff. But Im sure it goes back even further than that.

And IMO, Ian MacKaye should be ashamed to have this current crap associated with anything having to do with him.

I heard one song on the radio and it was ok.

Not bad, but not great either. I have a few of their songs but I barley listen to them (too much other stuff to occupy my ears).

well to give them a little credit, they are trying to add a little thrash influence on their last album. they are getting heavier with each release. i'm still not crazy about them though my wife likes them.

I moved them in here, nd I should probably move the Korn and P.O.D. thread too. NOT METAL!

Ehhhh.... That's about what I was expecting. Some good riffing, but boring song structure and vocals alternating between screaming and whining. It doesn't float my boat, and it's definitely not thrash.
