Metallica. Not even close. I know the black album had some iffy lyrics, but with CTE's golden nuggets like "Hello me. Meet the real me," I gotta say Metallica wins this one.

The Black Album.
Simple because it has the songs Sad But True and Holier Than Thou!
The only thing i like about CTE is Marty Friedman's solos.

Funny how the Bigger selling album 20 years later seem to have not held up as well

So, I put my vote down for the Black album. It was really a tough choice. I played the Black album way more than CTE when I first got them. And while I never play the Black album anymore and occasionally spin CTE, I still can't deny that it was the Black album that got me even more into metal.

Yes, because it only takes 31 people to dictate whether or not an album has held up well.
Perspective, my friend. Many people on this board are still jaded from what had gone on throughout 90's concerning Metallica. This outcome does not really surprise me.

I will have to agree with this statement and it did affect my vote.

Countdown for sure. If I ever hear Enter Sandman again I will have a strong urge to hit whoever is playing it.

Countdown to Extinction. I've tried and tried but I've never been able to get into the black album. Through the Never though, I like that song.
Countdown to Extinction on the other hand has never bored me. Even though I prefer other Megadeth albums, it has a consistency to it that just works. Every song is interesting up until the very end.

There are a lot of good songs on CTE...but I think overall, Metallica is a better album...I love the thick, bottom heavy tone of Metallica...plus songs like "Of Wolf And Man", "The God That Failed", "Enter Sandman", "Through The Never" are just massive...

Whoa, I haven't heard the studio version of that in ages, I got sick of it and stopped listening to it I guess.
I forgot what an awesome song it is! (so long as you don't hear it everyday).

Kind of a toss up really...
Overall I'd say Countdown as it simply is overall a more 'heavy' album.
