| Haven't been over here in a while. I have a lot of catching up to do.
Anyway, for those of you that play guitar, or anyone else for that matter. Just how good is Steve Morse?
I have a DVD of Deep Purple where both Steve and Ritchie Blackmore both play a solo. I thought Steve's was a lot cleaner, and a lot more imaginative. I think that Steve is an excellent guitar player, one of the best that I have heard.

| I was paying attention to his technique as much as could while I watched the dvd and it was amazing watching him. The DVD was Deep Purple in concert with the London Symphony Orchestra. I pull this DVD out every now and then. Ronnie Jame Dio is on it too.
Steve plays some amazing solos along with the orchestra. The orchestra parts seem to be very complex, so I think that says a lot for Deep Purple as well.

| Steve Morse is one of the best axe slingers of all-time for sure. I love the Dixie Dregs and his solo stuff, his DP stuff also kicks ace. | |

| I think Steve Morse is incredible, I am huge Blackmore fanboy so I like Deep Purple better with Blackmore but Steve Morse is incredible, and the work he did and does with Deep Purple is great. | |

I agree on this. I have always wondered what makes Richie Blackmore so special? His inflated ego? I prefer Morse over Blackmore anytime.

I agree on this. I have always wondered what makes Richie Blackmore so special? His inflated ego? I prefer Morse over Blackmore anytime. What makes him so special? It was music that he created with Deep Purple and Rainbow which set the template for what became heavy metal along with Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, one of yours (mine also) favorite bands Iron Maiden were especially influenced by Deep Purple. Also Blackmore brought in a classical musical influence into hard rock.heavy metal before Yngwie and the shredders did, his guitar solos are mini compostions within themselves and the guy is a guitar god that people like Steve Morse and Joe Satrini both admire especially after having to play the songs he wrote, that is what makes him so special.

| I was never complaining about his talent, just his performance and ego. But I agree with your statement above wholeheartedly. | |

Well dude you are going to have a pretty big ego if you and your band are going to have a cover where your faces are on Mount Rushmore!!!

| A couple of things. Deep Purple is my favorite band of all time and I love Blackmore.
I saw Morse with DP and while he is a great guitarist, no doubt, he can't hold a candle to what I have seen of Blackmore. They are 2 different players with nothing incommon. Hearing Morse do the Blackmore songs just sounds like a cover band to me. |
