OVERKILL-Taking Over

Listening to this album now, it's really good, IMO one of their best. Where would you rank this album in Overkill's discog?

This was the first Overkill record I ever got. It ranks easily in the top two with me. "Deny the Cross" and "Overkill II" is two of my favorite songs by them.

Right near the top for me. It's their first release I bought on cd (many years after it frst came out) and I still listen to it more than their other cds I think. A very strong sophomore release from a great band.

I'd rank it as my 4th choice behind these 3:

Years of Decay
Horrorscope
Under the Influence

Definitely a great disc though.

it's a good one. it'd be in my top 5 Overkill for sure.

It's one of their best albums!

For me the Top 5 would be :

Feel the Fire
Under the Influence
Taking Over
Horrorscope
Years of Decay

I bought that album when it first came out way back in 1987. Oh the memories, that album was so fresh and heavy. I would rank it probably first or second, only behind Years Of Decay or Under The Influence or just barely ahead them.

I put it second to The Years of Decay. It's a classic!

Awesome album. I've been on an OverKill kick big style lately. Got everything by them on my iPod.
Taking Over has been getting a lot of playtime. Defo within my top 5 also.

2: Feel The Fire
3: Taking Over
4: Ironbound
5: I Hear Black

I always think of this album as knocking around the top just under Horrorscope. Depends what's getting played to decide that second spot. If I'm listening to Taking Over, it gets the nod. Easily always in the top three.

It's easily their best disc and a true thrash classic.

In my top 5 by them. Everything going for them on this.

I agree, one of their best.

It's my favorite Overkill album.

I think it's one of the greatest old school thrash albums ever. The riffs are catchy and the guitar sound is crushing.

If i could only have two Overkill albums... it would be Years of Decay and Taking Over!

This album is OOP now for some reason, so if you find it in a used shop, snag it......

I had to order mine in from the states about 6-7 years ago coz i couldn't find it in the UK.
only cost me £10. bargin

Easily in the top of their catalog.Great Album!
