| The Darkness - any fans here?
I think they're great and i'm trying to collect everything I can from them. Anyone know where I can get more information on what singles/promos were released?
So far i've managed to collect a bunch of singles and their first EP and some promos. Pretty cheap on eBay, it seems no-one cares for them anymore (literally hundreds of their debut selling for pennies).
But I want to know if there are any sites that list their releases, so any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

| They were quite the novelty act back in 2003/2004. I always liked em myself, but I never did pick up any of their albums for whatever reason. I guess I kinda forgot about them. Perhaps I'll pick up their stuff. Especially if it's going for so cheap. | |

| Yep, in the UK their albums are pennies. It must cost sellers more to send than they actually get paid | |

You're right about that. They hit hard and heavy for 2 albums then fell apart. The novelty wore off and now you see their stuff for pennies. We had a promo copy floating around the office at the time, but I didn't much care for it. It seemed like a joke band, like Steel Panther or something. Good for a few listens, but not much more. I've thought about giving them another shot though, now that the hype has all but disappeared. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| I thought the Darkness where a great band, a throw back to 80's hair metal and band that had a great sense of humor that did not take themselves and even the genre they played in too seriously. | |

| I really like The Darkness. I love the music and vocals are excellent. I actually prefer the second cd more than the first but both are never far from my playlist. Like snooloui I am looking for the singles. _________________ | |

Sometimes when all the hype fades and the dust settles, a band just takes on a different form. I've discovered many bands I like 'after' they were popular.

I thought Permission To Land was a top album, not so much their 2nd. It seems everyone went crazy for them in 2003 and so all the singles from the first album are easy to get. One Way Ticket singles seem a bit pricier.

| All their songs were cool!
Anyway, nearly completed my collection, just 2 more DVD singles and I have all singles they released. Anyone heard the British Whale solo stuff? I think Justin only did two songs for it and then that's when things started going bad.

| I like'em. I thought their second album was better than the first, so it was sad to see it basically bomb, but I like the first one well enough. I'm looking forward to the reunion. Too bad this means the end for Stone Gods. They put out a great album. I never heard Justin's Hot Leg stuff though, other than a few songs. Sounded okay. | |

| I like the song "I've Met Jesus" by Hot Leg. Never really got into Stone Gods, sounded very plain and I don't enjoy the bassist/singer's vocals. | |

I am looking forward to the reunion too. Are they doing another album as The Darkness? _________________

| Bringing this back from the dead!!!!! They are back!!!! The reunited original lineup of U.K. rockers THE DARKNESS will perform at this year's edition of the Download festival, set to take place June 10-12, 2011 at Donington Park in Leicestershire, United Kingdom. This appearance will mark the band's first festival appearance since splitting up in 2006. THE DARKNESS will appear as special guests to headliners DEF LEPPARD on the opening night of the Download festival. "The idea of playing Download terrifies us," frontman Justin Hawkins said. "We played in an early slot on the main stage in 2003 and we were frightened then. It's reassuring to know that nothing has changed. "On a serious note, it's the most rockest of festivals and the perfect place for us to begin the next phase of our journey," he continued. Prior to this event, THE DARKNESS — Justin Hawkins, Dan Hawkins, Frankie Poullain and Ed Graham — will be locked in an East Anglian studio working on tracks that will in time become the band's third album. THE DARKNESS' first album, "Permission To Land", was released in 2003, hitting the No. 1 spot in the U.K. chart and winning "MasterCard British Album" at the 2004 Brit Awards (along with "Best British Group" and "British Rock Act"). Between 2003 and 2006, THE DARKNESS was honored with many awards and accolades; along with three Brit Awards, the band won an Ivor Novello in 2004 for "Songwriters Of The Year", four Kerrang! Awards, two Metal Hammer Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award and even an Elle Style Award in 2004 for "Most Stylish Band". THE DARKNESS 2011: | |
