- Rob was quoted as saying. "But I don't think a straight man can do my job in JUDAS PRIEST. I've never said that before. I'm sorry, but they can't."
Rob thinks his gayness is the reason he is the best singer for Priest?? I'll take Ripper's work on Jugulator over anything Rob has done since his return...

| I think it's been great since Rob's been back, unlike Bruce's return. (see ToB's Controversial Opinions thread ...)
Ripper had a great voice, but his vocal melody contributions (not allowed by TPTB) and lyrics (not written by him) were inferior to what Rob has always been known for.
I was a huge supporter of Tim in JP. I met him before a show on the Jug tour.

| Somebody please explain to me what sexual orientation has to do with with being able to perform and sing in a band? What am I missing here? | |

| What I think Rob was alluding to was that straight men cannot hit those high notes as good as he can because they don't have to take it up the arse and scream for vengeance. He has a good point....of entry. | |

Turbo's lyrics are genius not to mention his masterpiece album "Two".

That was the point of my original post... I like Halford's singing but it has nothing to do with his gayness.

I don't know... Ian Gillan was singing like that before Rob and without the ga-hey factor.

There's a reason you're in the minority.

| Well he was quoted saying that no straight man could do his job i JP, and his job is more than just singing. Image and stage apperance is (like it or not you muscisians here) very important in metal. And no straight man could look and act as leather macho gahey as Rob. It would just be an act. He is the perfect frontman for JP, Ripper has not got 1 % of his charisma no matter how much you may like his singing... My point is that the singing part has nothing to do with sexual orientation, but there is a lot more to it than the singing... | |

My point is that the singing part has nothing to do with sexual orientation, but there is a lot more to it than the singing... that's pretty much how it came across to me. Rob's job is more than just singing. it's his song writing, stage presence, persona, etc. much of which is influenced by who he is. a homosexual man. _________________

| Uhhhh... what's the point of this thread? I think that was a fairly old quote from Rob. Either way... to me, Rob seemed to be implying that his ga-hey-ness gives Priest that certain "somethin' somethin'" that sets them apart from other bands when it comes to performance, and in a way I guess he may be right. Halford has been copied many times but he has never been equaled. Think about it...when Priest had Ripper out front, vocally he had it goin' on but he had nowhere near the ca-razz-ma/rapport with the crowd that Rob had/has. Ripper's a "singer," whereas Rob is a "frontman." There is a big difference between the two. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"
