Yeah, that was uber-predictable.

I love dark stuff. Be it metal or rock oriented.
This is good. They are definitely on my radar now.

I'd definitely buy Dommin. Think I will in fact.
I love their 'heavy Depeche Mode' vibe and sound.

Thats a very good album Its that album that elevated me from casual eh fan to fanboy status lol If you liked that one the next album id recommend would be Weiland's first solo album 12 Bar Blues, but STP-wise I'd recommend either Core of No 4. both are great albums

Dommin - I like that one
Thriving Ivory - The music is pretty good, but those Macy Gray-type vocals on top of them and whiny lyrics just kills it for me. I just realised that that is a guy singing...........

I'm gonna have to agree with Chewie on Thriving Ivory.
I like the music. They have a nice indie rock sound. I dig a lot of that stuff. Especially on the darker side.
However, the vocals are just not a nice fit. I guess it's personal tastes. I also can't stand Macy Gray.

Cool. Yeah, I guess you could say I'm a 'casual' fan of STP. Never thought I'd see the day heheh. Remember how I used to not like them Addy?
What sorta changed it around for me is a soundtrack I got (The Crow). I got it for the Cure song, since I'm a major Cure fan. However, I was actually turned onto a few artists from that soundtrack, STP being one of them. So I went out and bought "Tiny Music". Got it really dirt cheap. It was under a buck in great shape.
I'm not quite yet at the point of buying another album from them. Kinda want to set with this one for a while and see how it 'grows' if ya know what I mean. I could turn into a raving fan one day. Or maybe not. Not sure yet.
But I will keep the album I have. Let's put it that way.

First of all "Burn" is my all time favorite song by The Cure it was from The Crow that turned me on to that and the Crow is an AWESOME Flick!!!!
The thing with STP is Tiny Music is a change in sound for them at that point, Their first 2 albums and their fourth album sound nothing like Tiny Music in my opinon. The reason why I suggested 12 Bar Blues by Weiland is because to me the perfect sequel to Tiny music was that first solo album. I have Tiny Music in my rotation hehe its a good disk kinda short time wise just over 35 - 38 minutes I believe. Funny thing about Purple (their 2nd album) I Love that album all the songs are great except the ones that were singles, theyre good songs but my favorites arent those few popular tunes. I think Big Empty is on their 2nd album.
Yeah I remember when you hated alot of things hehe Im glad you came around, when STP first came out I wasnt a fan at all. Could not stand them, then by the 2nd album I was a casual fan. It was Tiny Music that did it for me and i think it's because it was so different for them. And if you do turn into a Raving fan lemme know Ill recommend a ton of stuff for ya

Oh wow dude. I don't hear any kind of "Mike Tramp" vocals. I'm a huge fan of White Lion.
No, to me its what Chewie said. Macy Gray.
Pass.
But I'm looking forward to your next one.

So "Burn" turned you into a Cure fan? I've been a Cure fan since high school! If you need any recommendations for The Cure, let me know. I own most of their catalogue.
And yes, The Crow is an amazing movie! One of my faves. Good soundtrack too. And I don't normally buy soundtracks.
I'll remember what you said about Scott's first solo album. Might pick it up next even.

BTW, Sabbath should sue over the opening riff of that first one. Sounds like Iron Man to me.

HAHA I thought the same thing, retro/prog doom is not my thing either but there is def some killer Iommi worship on this album. It actually got me to pick up my guitar and make a doom instrumental. Listen to the ending riff in Im Coming With You, thats one killer riff.
Sorry to disappoint TOHO, just streaming albums and this one stuck out. I wouldnt buy this but I could def see myself ripping a few songs for a mixed album. This style gets old with me fast though...

Since I don't really have any expectations in this thread, you didn't disappoint M-Rob. I'm just offering my opinions of the bands you post.
Now if this thread was titled something like "Bands I Think Toho Will Like", then I'd be disappointed.
