If Phil Lynott was still alive today...

and he reformed Thin Lizzy do you think they would be right up there along with all the other bands that were around at their time, and are still around today like Aerosmith, AC/DC etc.

I'm sitting here cooking and I decided to put the old Ipod on a Thin Lizzy shuffle and I can just sit here and listen to them all day because I keep getting things from the songs each time I hear them. They were a friggin' great band!

They'd probably be "popular" in a Scorpions kind of way. Appreciated in Europe and Japan, and all but ignored in America. Much like they were back in the day.

I think MetalGuy is right, Thin Lizzy on this side of the pond, where a cult act, a very popular cult but unable to break thru in a big mainstream way. Over in Europe and the rest of the world these guys where one of the biggest bands in the world.


But who knows really, 'Thunder and Lighting' which was released in 1983/84 was doing very well over here, even mainstream critics where falling over themselves to praise the album and it was at height of metal's big comeback. A good push from management and their record label and maybe Thin Lizzy would have conquered America completely but Thin Lizzy disbanded that year and sadly we will never know.

I think he would obviously still be respected but i doubt he would be much more popular than his heyday.

So hard to say. I'd like to think they would get the recognition they deserved.

I don't know. With things like Guitar Hero which I believe their songs are in and also Jailbreak was in Grand Theft Auto, I think would get the younger crowed to want to find out who they are, and if they were still around maybe their popularity would've expanded.

Look at Maiden. They had a few years where no one really cared about them but now I think they are bigger than they ever were.

So Blaze would sing for TL for awhile?
