OVERKILL vs. SLAYER

I haven't even heard Ironbound yet, but I voted for it, because I guarantee it's better than WPB.

Ironbound would have to be pretty darn good to beat World Painted Blood. I'll vote after I hear it

From those two cds... I chose "Ironbound"

I'm lovin' them both. Not sure what people don't like about World Painted Blood.

I haven't heard IRONBOUND yet but I've always been a bigger Overkill fan so they get the nod.

Me either - sounds like the first three Slayer Rick Rubin albums!!!!!!

IRONBOUND - That album is amazing, and the title track simply annihilates!


Then again, Overkill are one of my favourite thash bands - I never understood all the hupla about Slayer, though I do enjoy some of their songs.

i like them both pretty much equal, but i voted for Slayer in protest of the predictable outcome of a poll like this at this particular forum.

I almost did the same thing just 'cause I know this board tends to side with Overkill, but I really do like 'em both about equally.

I voted Overkill. I kind of gave up on Slayer after "Divine Intervention". But not Overkill. Slayer is great, but theres something about them nowadays that makes me go "ehhh..."

Same here. I haven't heard Ironbound yet, but it's gonna be tough to beat WPB.

Slayer, to me, are a second-rate band. Not that they are bad, but there are several better bands out there. In my opinoion, either Testament or Overkill should have gotten the slot in the "Big Four" instead of Slayer. Then again, I do understand why Slayer are there - They simply represent that style of thrash, and indeed were pioneers. Notice, that the Big Four contain bands each representing their style of thrash. Metallica - Bay Area "Metallica" style. Megadeth - Technical Speed Metal - Anthrax - NYC thrash with humor, and Slayer - The more brutal style that Germany adobted.

There are five Slayer albums I really dig (Reign In Blood, South Of Heaven, Seasons In The Abyss, Christ Illusion, World Painted Blood), but I LOVE every Overkill album and Ironbound is an unbelievable album. Count another vote for Overkill!

Overkill have always been much much much better. So i'll prefer ironbound of course.

I think Overkill is getting stronger as they go.

I voted I don't like the songwriting. I like the new Overkill over the new Slayer, but the new Overkill has some really dumb parts as much as the new Slayer does TO ME!

Both equally.

They are both kick-ass albums, and it's hard to choose one over the other.

I still need to buy them both - but I've heard enough to judge.

Better production

Both albums are better than the previous respective albums from either band, but Overkill has made the bigger jump, quality-wise. If this had been Immortalis vs Christ Illusion, I would have voted Slayer.

Ironbound, I am an Overkill fanboy who has everything (practically) they've ever done. I just can't get into Slayer but I don't know why, I've tried and I've heard all their stuff but...
