I'm supposed to be cutting back on buying older stuff so I can enjoy the piles of CDs I haven't touched since buying but I couldn't resist after going into Barnes & Noble tonight and seeing all these for $5.99 each (the fact that it was payday had me in an especially bold mood):

I've gone back and forth on whether to buy those albums. I like some of the songs but reviews are always mixed. "Night Lies" is my favorite from them. It's on Rock Band 2. My girl hated it though.

I put all three on shuffle after I ripped them, and I didn't hear anything I disliked. But the acoustic version of "Sister Christian" came on at one point, and it just made me wonder why it's so hard for these older rock bands to write tunes like that now. I mean, that's just a simple song with a killer hook. They're not frickin' hard to write!

I swear, it's like rock bands these days are trying to make beautiful 80s babies by pulling out. Works sometimes, but usually it just makes someone's eyes sting.
